THS Website Calendar

Quarter 3 (Q3) will end on April 4th just before Spring Break. After April 4th, Quarter 3 (Q3) and Quarter 4 (Q4) grades will be combined to become the Semester 2 (S2) grade, which will be the final grade shown on a student's transcript. PowerSchool is a great tool for monitoring your student's grades and opening discussions about classwork and overall student success. Download the app to make monitoring grades and attendance easy!

This period is built into our bell schedule (30 min period between 3rd and 4th period, every Wednesday and Thursday). Students have an opportunity to get additional assistance with their assignments or topics in which they are struggling, and they are encouraged to take advantage of this time. Students must visit one of their six teachers’ classrooms. Seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Students are not permitted to enter a classroom in which they are not currently enrolled.

Torrance Library – Get live tutoring, homework help, skills building, and FAFSA assistance through Brainfuse HelpNow, covering subjects like math, science, writing, and test prep. (Torrance City residents only). Students need to register for a FREE library card before accessing the Torrance Library resources.

LA County Library – Access free online tutoring for grades K-12, with help in math, science, reading/writing, and test prep from 1 PM to 10 PM. Students need to register for a FREE library card before accessing LA County Library resources.

Khan Academy – Explore free video lessons and practice exercises on a variety of subjects, including math, science, and history, to learn at your own pace.

Please share this message from TPD regarding traffic safety and violations with any family members or family friends who assist with pick up and drop offs in front of or behind the school. Additionally, please refrain from using the student parking lot (on Martina) if you are not a student.

36 out of 67 students decided to do an optional extra credit AP Calc AB exam on a Saturday.

The THS BSU (Black Student Union) collaborated with the NHS BSU for Black History Month and our students actively shared stories, ideas, and cultural experiences with an audience, demonstrating effective articulation and fostering interpersonal connections.

This year, Assistant Principal Mr. Hall established the Tartars Captains Council, which includes the captains for all sports at THS. The purpose of the Captains Council is to build capacity in our programs' captains to be a community of leaders who exhibit the CIF "six pillars of character", not only on their teams, but across the school campus and in the community. The Captains Council meets once a month during a Tutorial period to build community and develop leadership. Throughout the year, the Captains have taken an NFHS course on sportsmanship, have taken a personal values assessment, and clarified ways that they can improve their leadership.

On Thursday, March 27th, 11 THS students made their State Seal of Civic Engagement presentations to a panel comprised of Assistant Principal Mr. Hall, TUSD Social Studies TOSA Ms. Waller, TUSD Director of State & Federal Projects Mr. McDowell, and their advisor, Social Studies & English Teacher Ms. Jensen. These presentations are part of the requirement that candidates participate in one or more informed civic engagement project(s) that address real-world problems and require students to identify and inquire into civic needs or problems, consider varied responses, take action, and reflect on efforts.
