Your Lister News from the Lister News Team
Oliver Jnr! Performance this week!
Show week is upon us - here's what you need to know:
Show Nights are Thurs 1st Feb and Fri 2nd Feb. Show starts at 4.30pm (Doors open from 4.15pm) and ends at 6:00pm. You are warmly invited to accompany your child as part of the audience! We anticipate that many students may come to support and it would be great to have parents or carers alongside them.
Be Kind, Polite and Considerate
Have you been the recipient of an act of kindness that changed your life?
Last week our assemblies focused on random acts of kindness (RAK). We have asked students to think about a moment that impacted them - maybe it was something as simple as someone greeting them with a smile on a difficult morning, and it turned their mood around. Perhaps it was a friend reaching out to schedule time together when they really needed someone to talk to. It could have been a teacher who took extra time to make sure they understood an assignment. We want our students to take on the notion - related to our core value to be kind, polite and considerate - of completing a random act of kindness for others. It might mean that you come home to discover a newly emptied dishwasher or that they have made an effort to tidy away all of the debris of toys and games that were making a mess at home.
You can discuss the idea of completing a RAK with your child and perhaps you can even decide to complete a RAK together.
Other Items
Dragon's Den
At Lister we want to inspire our students to think about future careers that might lead to all kinds of future success. Perhaps one of the year 7s taking part will be a contestant on Dragon's Den in the next few years?
New Behaviour Policy
The policy will be explained in more detail in a forthcoming letter from our headteacher, Ms Clay. Please keep an eye out for the email with the letter attached.

Foodbank Donations
Dear parents/carers,
At Lister Community School we are committed to looking out for our students and their families. We know that this winter may be a challenging winter for many of our parents and carers. Our food bank relies on donations from within the school community and we would appreciate any donations you can give. Please check that the items you are donating have a good shelf life and that they will not be expiring soon. We cannot take perishable food such as fresh fruit/vegetables. Please ask your child to drop donations off at the main reception.
We will be holding our next food bank on Friday 9th February from 3.30 - 4 p.m. Please come or ask your child to come to the main reception. If you can, bring your own bags. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, they automatically qualify for use of the food bank. We also welcome parents who may need to use the food bank, as we know circumstances are individual.
Thank you.
