The Bulldog Bark
February 2017
Reusch Report
First, I would like to say a few words about our beloved Art Teacher Ed Fruehwald who passed away this month. He was a selfless man who thought about others always before himself. Mr. Fruehwald gave countless hours to extra programs like Leggo League and the Veterans Day Program. The 2017 Veterans Day program will be dedicated to Mr. Fruehwald. SMS truly lost a kind and gentle servant.
We had an outstanding Camp S’Mores Literacy Night. Thank you to all our families that attended. This is an annual event and we look forward to seeing you next year.
“Silence Day” is a tradition brought to us by ELA Teacher Rachel Clark. 8th graders put themselves in Anne Frank’s shoes for one day. In order to hide out from Nazi Germany, Anne was forced to be quiet all day. This was a powerful experience that our students will never forget. We had a 97.5% attendance rate with 8th graders that day. The students did an awesome job and we were very proud of them.
At the end of the month we had a PEP Assembly that recognized all of our extracurricular activities. It has been a tremendous year. The highlight of our PEP Assembly was our SMS Dance Team!! The Girls won the 2017 Hip Hop State Championship!! Here is the significance:
Henderson City High started in 1955. From 1955 to 2017 (62 years) there have been 8 Team State Champions and 3 Team National Champions that came from this building
- 1959 City High Football
