What a busy week this week has been. And we are halfway through term 1 already!
On Tuesday, Sandy and the team from Bunnings worked alongside children, whanau and teachers to develop our beautiful Butterfly and Bee Garden. It is almost completed and looks so amazing! The team at Bunnings supplied all the materials and plants we needed to create this gorgeous space, so generous and we are so very thrilled!
We have also been using our compostable lunch containers from our Ka ora Ka ako healthy lunches to plant vegetable seeds for our edible gardens. We are excited to be able to reuse these containers.
Tomorrow we have our Mufti Day to support North Island families affected by the floods. Instead of a gold coin donation, please consider donating some of the options shared on the flyer. We are dressing in bright colours to signify ‘being the rainbow after the storm’.
Our school environment is looking simply amazing. We are lucky enough to have Grandad Phil (Arwen’s Grandad) working in our gardens and is doing amazing things with our space.
We are also excited about receiving funding to replace the sand in our sandpit with beautiful new golden silica sand. We will be needing support to dig the old sand out, water blast and paint the sandpit before the new sand goes in. If anyone is available and keen to work alongside the children to do this, please pop in and see Cara or myself. Dates to be confirmed.
We are also looking at starting our native pathway this term, preparing the ground in readiness for planting. If anyone is able to support us with a digger, that would be so helpful! Please see Cara or myself.
So many exciting things happening at our amazing kura!
Have a fantastic week everyone.
