Ripon Cathedral School Update

This week Year 5 visited Go Ape in Dalby Forest. The children had a fantastic morning exploring the forest canopy, navigating their way around a treetop rope course completing intricate crossings, wobbly bridges and zip wires whilst developing their climbing and balancing skills. In the afternoon the children participated in a range of fun activities and games to develop communication, leadership and teamwork.

This week Year 6 led a class worship all about the importance for friendship. They shared poetry and thoughts and explained how they showed friendship and team work when they went to Howstean Gorge. As part of the worship the children sang the theme song from Friends and they read thoughtful prayers. Well done Year 6.

Well done to our Year 5 and Year 6 girls who took part in a Sporting Influence Netball Competition at Outwood Secondary School.

The girl's attitude and behaviour was exemplary. They showed great respect both for the rules and the opposition in all games. At the end of the event Cathedral was announced as joint winners. They will represent Ripon at the area netball finals in December.

A huge number of children, from across all classes, completed the North Yorkshire Library summer reading challenge, Ready, Set, Read. Today we presented their certificates to reward them for their fabulous effort over the summer.

Book Look

On Monday 23rd October, parents and carers are invited to come into classes at the end of the school day (from 3.10pm/3.15pm) with their child to look at the work that they have been doing.

Parent Consultations

We are looking forward to seeing parents and carers at our parent consultations on Tuesday 24th October (face to face meetings) and Wednesday 25th October (online meetings). If you have not booked a slot yet, please do click on the link that has been sent by email. If you have any issues booking a time please do contact the school office. In order for the teachers to be able to have open discussions with parents, we ask that children do not attend appointments, thank you.

Next week, Year 5 will be leading worship on Wednesday 18th October. After the worship we will be sharing our Lindisfarne Film with the children. Parents are more than welcome to remain after the worship to enjoy the film with the children.

Our Harvest Festival will be led by Year 4 on Tuesday 24th October at 1.30pm in the Cathedral. Parents and carers are more than welcome to come along.

The theme this year is about sharing and as part of our Harvest celebrations we will be doing a collection for Ripon Community House. They are an organisation who provide emergency food support for people in crisis in Ripon, Boroughbridge and the surrounding villages. They are happy to receive donations of food and other items (no pasta/soup/baked beans).

If families would like to donate to this local worthy cause, please can children bring items in on Tuesday 24th October. Many thanks for your continued support.

Today, as part of Nursery's week looking at the colour red we have been wearing red and practising our cutting, chopping and spreading skills to make yummy pizzas using red ingredients.
