Hello Evergreen Families!
Time sure flies when we're having fun and learning! It's hard to believe we're already in October. Let's take a moment to reflect on our wonderful journey so far and look ahead to some exciting events coming up.

- Movie Night brought us together for some big-screen fun
- Twin Day had us seeing double!
- ELAC and School Site Council meetings helped shape our school's direction
- And of course, our teachers delivered amazing classroom instruction every day
October Adventures
The fun doesn't stop there! October brings even more to look forward to:

It has been a great month of September! We just enjoyed our first Movie Night of the year featuring Inside Out 2. It was so nice seeing all of you with your families.
Our Education Support Drive was a success as we superseded our fundraiser goal of $50,000 and that is all thanks to our amazing parents and supporters. 100% of donations will go directly to our students, teachers, and school updates. With your donations we will be able to replace outdated Chromebooks, support our students field trips, and so much more. Opportunity drawing winners have been notified, we will contact you with additional information.
The Community Club's next event will be the Family Fun Night "Let's Glow Neon Party" on October 18. Please join us for some fun games, raffles, music, and yummy food. VAPA
Hello Evergreen Family,
Intro: My name is Mr. Seung and I am the VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) teacher. Throughout the school year I will be working with each class from grades 1-5 for about 45 minutes a week. We will be exploring the creative world of drama, music, art, dance, and coding.
Why?: Visual and performing arts can play a significant role in a student’s development such as demonstrating higher levels of engagement and achievement in their studies, fostering social-emotional learning, building creativity and critical thinking, and encouraging movement and motor skills.
What we’re doing: Currently, all grade levels have been doing drama for the past few weeks. First, we talked about imagination and improvisation and how it relates to story making/telling. The students were able to be creative with their words, actions, and ideas. Next, we focused on diction (speaking clearly so others can understand you). To get the students' interest and make it fun, we tried saying different tongue twisters as clearly as possible. The lower grade levels then focused on controlling their body movement to express their ideas by doing a mirror activity (copycat). The upper grade levels, on the other hand, focused on combining improvisation and diction through different activities such as an interview circle or a game of “sell me this.” In the next few sessions, the students will write/create their own short story in a group and present it to their classmates.
Thank you,
Mr. Seung
TK/K September S.O.A.R. Awards
This past month, our TK/K students had their very first SOAR awards! It was a fun way to connect our PBIS and Leader in Me initiatives, all while celebrating our youngest leaders. Each month, we will continue to honor TK/K students with SOAR awards, acknowledging those who display safe, on-task, accountable, and respectful behaviors, while also following the 8 habits and more. We can’t wait to celebrate more amazing kids!
Movie Night
Evergreen's Movie Night was a memorable evening filled with student leaders, staff, parents, and volunteers. Families brought lawn chairs and blankets to relax on our amphitheater lawn, while the Community Club set up an amazing snack bar with hotdogs, nachos, pizza, soft drinks, and even Evergreen spirit shirts for sale. It was a wonderful night of community connection as we all enjoyed watching Inside Out 2 under the stars. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this night a success!

ELAC
ELAC: Empowering Our Multilingual Leaders
At Evergreen Elementary, we're committed to supporting our students who are learning English alongside other languages. Our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) plays a crucial role in this mission. But what exactly is ELAC?
ELAC is a bridge between families of multilingual students and our school staff. It gives parents and guardians a voice in shaping how we address the needs of our multilingual learners. Through ELAC, we aim to:
- Ensure students receive the right support and resources
- Promote better communication and collaboration
- Foster a sense of community among multilingual families
Supporting Our Students
At Evergreen, we provide a network of support for our multilingual learners:
- Classroom Teachers offer targeted instruction and monitor progress in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Bilingual Aides work one-on-one or in small groups, providing crucial support with interpretation and curriculum understanding.
Interventionists, including our Title 1 Specialist, Intervention teacher, and Elementary Learning Specialist, offer additional small-group instruction outside the classroom.
Together, we're creating an environment where every student can thrive. Interested in joining ELAC? Contact the school office to learn more about how you can get involved and make a difference!
