LIVING THE MISSION: FAITH AT THE HEART OF OUR PACK
Faith Fact Friday
One famous legend is how St. Francis tamed a hungry wolf that had been terrorizing an Italian village. The wolf had killed many of the village's animals and some people. St. Francis commanded the wolf (on behalf of Jesus Christ) to do no more harm to any of the village's inhabitants. In return, the villagers regularly fed the wolf so he wouldn't go hungry.
According to the Anishinaabe Seven Sacred Teachings, the Wolf represents humility. St. Francis, the villagers, and the wolf all showed humility by working together to be peaceful and share food.
9-4 Serving in our Community #InspiredToServe
The 9-4 religion class brought a touch of green to the community! Partnering with Catholic Social Services, the students spent time crafting seed packets for their Foster Care event at the Dawe Centre on January 25th. With smiles and focused hands, they cut, glued, and filled envelopes with seeds, demonstrating the power of small acts of kindness. CSS was incredibly grateful for the students' generous support.

WOLVES AT WORK: ENGAGING EVERY LEARNER
At St. Francis of Assisi, we’re committed to creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment. This year, our focus is on enhancing student engagement through strategies that foster active participation and critical thinking. During Professional Development Days, teachers are building their toolkit with Total Participation Techniques (TPT), designed to involve every student in meaningful learning. Look for upcoming highlights of these techniques in action, with photos from our classrooms! This week's highlight photos are from grade 7 where the Think,Pair, Share and Think Aloud strategies along with the Popsicle sticks are in action.
YOUR VOICE MATTERS
This week, parents of students in Grade 6, 8, and 9 should have received an email inviting you to complete the Schollie Parent Survey. Your feedback is important to us as it helps shape the learning experience and community at our school. If you haven’t had a chance yet, we encourage you to complete the survey at your earliest convenience. You can find the details in the email sent earlier this week or refer to the attached information below. Grade 7 families share their feedback through the Assurance Survey from Alberta Education, which is sent out at a later date.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and support our school community!

St. Joseph's Musical Production - BIG FISH
Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart and humor, BIG FISH is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself.
The show is rated PG as there is some language that is not appropriate for all ages. Nothing overtly violent or explicit in terms of content in this show.
General seating tickets ARE AVAILABLE NOW on RYCOR for Thurs. February 27 - Sat. March 1 @ 7pm, along with public matinees on Sat. March 1 @ 2pm. Tickets cost $20 each.
Notre Dame's Musical Production - Shrek the Musical
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.
"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.
Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all) and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.
