OCTOBER ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE
At Herget Middle School, attendance is a top priority. Being present every day is essential for our students’ success. To help us achieve this, we’re excited to share our attendance incentive for October 1-25, doughnuts and cocoa for the classes with the highest attendance percentage.
Each morning, attendance will be recorded by the classroom teacher and will be checked in our office. Our attendance will be checked again at the end of the day. We will celebrate the classes with the highest percentage of attendance, with our goal being 100%.

Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, is a time to honor and recognize the contributions, history, and culture of Hispanic and Latinx communities in the United States. This period celebrates the rich heritage that spans various countries, including Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Some meaningful ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage include:
1. Learning about influential Hispanic figures: Exploring the lives and achievements of influential figures like Frida Kahlo, César Chávez, Sonia Sotomayor, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
2. Exploring Hispanic culture through food: Trying traditional dishes like tamales, empanadas, arepas, and paella can be a delicious way to experience the diversity of Hispanic cuisine.
3. Attending cultural events: Parades, music festivals, and dance performances often highlight the vibrant traditions of Hispanic communities, including salsa, flamenco, mariachi, and bachata.
4. Reading literature or watching films by Hispanic creators: Works by authors such as Gabriel García Márquez, Isabel Allende, and Julia Alvarez offer insights into the Hispanic experience, while films by directors like Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo del Toro also showcase storytelling from this community.
5. Supporting Hispanic-owned businesses: Show appreciation by visiting local shops, restaurants, or artisans run by Hispanic entrepreneurs.
