FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Confirmation
Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. The word Pentecost is Greek, and it means "50th day." Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers and the beginning of their earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations. The symbols of Pentecost are the flame, wind and the dove, which represents the Holy Spirit.
It was very fitting that our Year Six children received the Sacrament of Confirmation on this weekend at Our Lady of the Mission Church. We keep them in our prayers and ask the Holy Spirit to be with them throughout their life journey. Many thanks to Ms Capriotti and Mr Darby for preparing the children so thoroughly leading up to their Confirmation.
Feast of the Most Holy Trinity
This Sunday is the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity (15 June). We have been taught, and we know that we worship one God in three persons:
- God the Father, who created everything
- God the Son (Jesus), who came to Earth to save us
- God the Holy Spirit, who helps us feel God’s love and make good choices.
Even though they are three Persons, they are not three Gods, they are one God working together in perfect love. We unite our prayers knowing that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are with us always through.
Italian Competition
Congratulations to Lia who was chosen as the Year 4 winner for the Festival Primary School Students' Competition 2025 for students of Italian (K-6) - IAWCC. On Saturday 8 June Lia attended a special presentation with her family at the Italian Australian Welfare Cultural Community Centre. She was presented with a trophy, certificate and a voucher as the winner for her year level. Lia created a bus for the ‘Anno del Giubileo’ (Year of the Jubilee) that would take pilgrims all around Rome for the special occasion.
Social Justice Fundraiser
Free Dress
This term our Social Justice fundraiser will be held in week 10 on Friday 4 July. The Year 6 Ministry have organised for the students and staff to come dressed in their pyjamas. We ask that the students bring in a gold coin donation and this money will be sent to St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and Life Link. Both these charities support vulnerable people in our community.
We thank you for your ongoing support.
Reports
Teachers are busily assessing and working on student reports that will go out at the end of this semester. The students have been working extremely hard over the semester and should be commended for their amazing efforts. We are very proud of them all. The Mid Semester Report will provide you with feedback of your child's progress.
Have a lovely weekend with your family.

Ethics Olympiad
This week 5 of our students competed in the Ethics Olympiad. Peter K, Elliot D, Elanie H, Mia T and Ronan J studied 6 philosophical cases and competed against other schools to answer and discuss the “big” questions.
Although challenging at times our team performed extremely well and structured their answers and arguments very well. The team enjoyed their day, commenting on how much fun it was even though their brain was tired. They all asked if they could repeat the day.
I am extremely proud of their efforts. Our team received an Honourable Mention.
Well done team. So proud.
Maths Extension
This week some of our Maths Extension students will sit the second paper for the APSMO maths challenge. This paper consists of 5 very challenging maths problems.
I wish them all the best for this challenge and look forward to discussing their strategies applied.

Lightning Carnival
Padbury Shines at the Netball Winter Carnival
On a sunny winter at Kingsway, our talented Year 5 and 6 students took to the courts for an action-packed Netball Winter Carnival, competing against several other schools in a thrilling 7-game competition.
From the very first whistle, our Padbury teams displayed outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit. It was heartwarming to see students not only giving their all on the court but also enthusiastically cheering on their teammates from the sidelines. The energy and encouragement created a vibrant and supportive atmosphere that truly embodied the spirit of the day.
Team 1 had a fantastic run, winning 6 out of their 7 games—a remarkable achievement! Team 2 and Team 3 also played exceptionally well throughout the day, securing some solid wins and pushing through several very close matches with determination and resilience. The carnival concluded with an exciting Padbury Derby between Team 1 and Team 2—full of energy, laughter, and great sportsmanship, with smiles, fun, and friendship all round.
A huge congratulations to all our players for their positive attitude and commitment, and a big thank you to the staff and parent volunteers, Mrs Hartfield, Mrs Byrnes and Mrs Da Rui who made the day such a success. We’re incredibly proud of how our students represented Padbury—both in play and in spirit!

AFL Talent on Show
On June 9th Padbury Catholic competed at the NIPSSA lightning carnival. Boys and girls from Year 5 & 6 competed at Seacrest Reserve in a fierce AFL competition. The boys team played in one win, 3 losses and one very exciting draw. It was great to see the boys cheering on their team as we managed to draw a fantastic game against our archrivals Whitfords Catholic.
Thank you to all the parents who supported the students on the day. I’m sure they would agree that the boys fought out every contest despite some of the results.
Mr Hignett
AFL Girls
Girl’s football was great to watch! In each game there were strings of kicks that were marked, handball chains and running goals. The games were played in good spirits. The Padbury players were exhausted after 5 games and many repeated efforts. From all the parents and those watching – thanks girls for putting on a good show!
Mr O’Mara
Boys Soccer
Boys Soccer
The students represented our school with pride. The boys’ soccer teams played exceptional soccer and one of our teams remained undefeated the entire day. They showed great sportsmanship towards the other players and were commended for their enthusiasm and attitude. The boys certainly made everyone proud of them.
Mr Randazzo
Girls Soccer
Our girls’ soccer team had a fantastic day! Everyone tried their hardest and encouraged each other, which was wonderful to see. We surprised ourselves with what we were able to achieve, with lots of girls kicking goals, defending hard and having a great overall team spirit. We won 5 of our 6 games and had an extremely fun day together!
Ms Capriotti
Two Tag Ruby
The two tag rugby teams had a highly successful day at Kingsway Reserve So good. With a guest appearance from coach Miss Walker, the girls team were highly successful. On the other field with Mr. Darby, the boys were fierce in competition and had a lovely day in the sun. Fantastic sportsmanship was shown by all.
Mr Darby
ADMINISTRATION
School Absence
Student’s attendance at school should be at 100%, however if your child is unwell they are not expected to attend and an email should be sent to their teacher and to admin regarding their absence. If the child requires more time at home due to illness, please provide the school with a medical certificate.
The school is accountable for a student’s absence, and we need to report to CEWA and the Education Department of WA regarding absences.
If you are intending to take your child on holidays during the term, you must complete the form that is provided on our website and this absence must be approved by the principal.
Unwell Children
With the weather getting colder we are experiencing more sickness amongst children and adults. It is important that the children recuperate before returning to school. Please ensure if you have a sick child that they are 100% before they come back to school. There are children at school who are immune compromised, and we need to ensure we protect everyone.
We appreciate your support with this.

PCPS Netball
Its just as well the netball club was blessed with a bye for round 5 as the rain came down that weekend. Year 4 team coached by Loretta Dayman in the photo, did not let the cold bother them and still smiled even with a loss. Well done to Bree’s team (Year 5) with a massive win.
