The Prowler
Week of March 3-7, 2025
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
This week marks the start of the 5th Six Weeks of the 2024-2025 school year. We want to remind parents that report cards will be distributed to students on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, during their 2nd-period classes. We kindly ask that parents take the time to review their child’s report card, sign it, and ensure that their child returns the signed report card to their 2nd-period teacher by Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that the Spring 2025 benchmark assessments were completed last week. The data from these assessments will be essential in guiding the instructional strategies for the remainder of the school year, as teachers will use the results to tailor their teaching methods and address targeted skills.
Please note that tutorial sessions were temporarily canceled last week due to the Spring Benchmark testing. However, tutorials will resume this week on Monday and Wednesday from 4:15 to 5:15 pm, providing students with additional support as needed. We appreciate your continued partnership in helping your child succeed!
We would like to remind and encourage all parents to continue prioritizing consistent daily attendance for their children. Regular attendance is crucial to student success, and we are committed to maintaining a school-wide attendance rate of at least 96% throughout the year. Your support in achieving this goal is invaluable, and we deeply appreciate your efforts. Together, we can ensure that our students have the best opportunity to succeed, both academically and personally. Thank you for being an essential part of this important effort!
Spring Break is fast approaching, scheduled for the week of March 10-14, 2025. This break offers a well-deserved opportunity for students and staff to rest and recharge. Please note that following Spring Break, Monday, March 17th, will be a Teacher Inservice day, meaning there will be no classes for students on that day. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, ready to continue their learning.
We hope that everyone—teachers, staff, and students—takes full advantage of this break to relax and refresh. As we look ahead to the final stretch of the school year, we will be focusing on preparing our students for the upcoming STAAR assessments. These next few weeks will be crucial as we ensure that all students are well-prepared to succeed on these important state exams.

CTE Campus Tour for RHMS 8th Grade Students
Eighth-grade students from RHMS recently visited the Rio Hondo P-TECH campus to explore the diverse educational pathways available to high school students. During their visit, they were introduced to the wide range of specialized programs offered at the campus, which are designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences and prepare them for careers in fields such as technology, engineering, health sciences, and more. The students had the opportunity to learn about the unique structure of the P-TECH model, which combines high school education with college-level coursework and internships, giving them a deeper understanding of how these pathways can help them achieve their academic and professional goals. The visit aimed to inspire and inform the students about the many options they have as they begin to plan for their future educational and career paths.

“If we want to talk about ‘student success’, students have to lead the conversation and have the ability to define what success means to them. This is not only beneficial for our work today but for how students create their own opportunities in the future.” @gcouros
“Be the difference for THAT kid. THAT kid is the one that is off-task, uses unkind words and is hard to love. THAT kid needs you the most. You can help change THAT kid’s life trajectory in a huge way. I was once THAT kid!” @DrP_Principal
