Library Poetry SLAM

We had seven talented young ladies participate in the Poetry SLAM held in the library on April 2. Gigi Gallop, Anastasia Ovensey, Kiersten Spaw, Teriyah Ford, Faith Fenley, Natalia Marin, and Kenzington Bass wrote original poetry to present at the SLAM. The poems were judged for "Figurative Language"; "Fluency"; and "Tone and Mood". The students were also rated on how they presented their poems. Each one did an outstanding job. A special than you goes out to Mrs. J. Williams for being the judge.

Congratulations to MJHS Symphonic Band

MJHS Symphonic band participated in a UIL Concert & Sight-reading Evaluation on March 28. They received straight ones and earned the sweepstakes trophy. This is the highest rating a band can receive. The band is conducted by Mrs. M. Bilek.

National Library Week

April 7-13, 2019 is National Library Week.

McAdams Gator Games

McAdams will hold their campus Gator Games in the library on April 24 beginning at 1:45 p.m.. Students have formed teams of 4 -5 students. The groups have been reading the 2018 Lone Star Award books this school year. Each team will be tested over each book in the Lone Star list. Points will be awarded for correct answers. The team with the most points at the end of the games will win.

2019 Library Summer Reading Challenge

I want to challenge every student read this summer. So I have created a Library Summer Reading Challenge.

Instructions:

Use the list (summer reading challenge.docx) below to choose a book to read. Once you have read the book fill out the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge form provided below. The books may be physical books, eBooks, and audio books.

Read 5-7 books - free ice cream.

Read 8 or more books - a free dress day & free ice cream

*You must fill out the "Summer Reading Challenge" form for each book you read to receive credit for the book. This form is located on the library webpage at http://schools.dickinsonisd.org/page/ctippit-Summer%20Reading%20Challenge. If you have any questions, please email the school librarian, Ms. C. End Of Year Library Survey for Students and Teachers

An End of Year Library Survey for students and teachers will be sent out during the week of May 6-10. I ask everyone to fill out these surveys.
