Hello Quantum Families!

We hope your Quark(s) enjoyed the Week of Welcome and Aquatica on Friday! We love engaging our students in our Week of Welcome to get them acclimated to QA and to teach our expectations. We begin core content this week with Math, Science, PE, Reading, and Social Studies but the fun does not stop! We surprised our students today by unveiling The Quantum Olympics! Our 8th grade students will be going through the design thinking process and creating game stations for our students who will be competing in Ancient Greek city states. Students will also be engineering chariots and shields for competition. We’d love to have parent volunteers support the engineering process. Sign-up to volunteer here.

Back to School Night is this Wednesday and we hope to see all families there! You van view the schedule here. Our PTA meeting and Principal Message is at 4:45, Community Dinner is at 5:30 and Teacher Sessions start at 6:00. Our community dinner is open to all and PTA sponsors this event with food and drinks for our Quantum families. Thank you PTA! Families will pick up a family packet from their child’s homeroom teacher. Please take one packet per child. This packet has important information about Quantum and our policies to set students up for success!

iReady is the program we use to provide students, staff, and families with an assessment of a students’ overall level in Reading and Math. iReady will also generate lessons appropriate for each student based on these assessments. iReady testing starts tomorrow on Tuesday August 27th. We’ll start with Reading then move to Math the following week. Once testing is done, results will be communicated to families through the iReady Family Report. Please have students come ready to test by getting a good night’s sleep and eating a healthy breakfast in the morning. Students also need their fully charged iPads. We ask that students try their best on the test so they recieve an accurate individualized learning pathway from iReady.

After School ELOP Classes are available for sign ups! Students came home with a flyer today highlighting both teacher-led classes and vendor-led classes. Check our Rugby for 6th-8th grades led by SD Legion professional Rugby players here! Classes start the week of Sept 16th and the sign up deadline is Sept 6th. Sign up early as classes are likely to fill up quickly! Scan the QR code to sign up.

Teachers use Rooms to communicate directly with families regarding class and grade level specific news. All families should have received a message yesterday inviting families to sign up.
