Notes From the Superintendent
Greetings,
As we prepare to begin another exciting school year we wanted to take a moment, in this monthly newsletter, to reach out and welcome you back to our district. If you are new to MSAD #60 please look for monthly district-wide newsletters in addition to communication from individual schools. The purpose is to showcase a broad overview of the many educational and district-wide happenings across the schools and departments.
Our dedicated staff has been working diligently to ensure that we're ready to provide your children with a safe, engaging, and enriching educational experience. This year, we are continuing to focus on the four components of our Noble 2030 Strategic Plan:
Community Engagement
High Quality Resources
School Safety
Pathways to Success
Each month, the newsletter will highlight one of these Strategic Plan Goals with more detailed information-stay tuned!
A few important updates and reminders:
First day of school. The “official” first day of school is August 28th. While that is the scheduled first day for the vast majority of students some grade levels have an altered schedule as they transition into new buildings or grade levels. Please refer to the information sent out directly from your student’s school should you have any questions.
Open House Dates are as follows:
8/26/24 Noble High School- Grade 8
9/10/24 Noble High School- Grades 9-12
9/10 Noble Middle School- Grades 6 and 7
9/5/24 Knowlton School- Berwick Grade 4, Berwick and No. Berwick Grade 5
9/12/24 Hussey School, No. Berwick Elementary School, Lebanon School, and Hanson School-all grades
Student attendance. We cannot stress enough the importance of students attending school on a regular basis. Did you know that since the pandemic, chronic absenteeism across the country has almost doubled? We need your help!
Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school, and graduate from high school. (Attendance Awareness Campaign, 2024)
Please reach out to your student’s teacher, counselor or administrator if you need any support or additional resources to help your student build strong attendance routines.
We value your partnership in your student’s education as we look forward to another year of growth, learning, and achievement for all.
Regards,
Audra Beauvais
Superintendent of Schools
A Summer of Joyful Learning
Our Noble students participating in summer programming had an incredible time continuing their education! Two of our many successful programs are Kindergarten Jump Start (KJS) and Noble Middle School (NMS) Summer Experience.
The cornerstones of KJS are both rigor and fostering a love of reading. Despite the program's academic focus, our teachers skillfully balanced challenging content with enjoyable activities, creating an atmosphere where learning was both productive and fun.
The NMS Summer Experience engaged older students in exciting, cross-curricular projects. Through hands-on activities like gardening, field trips, and building inventive machines, students developed skills, knowledge, and confidence to start the next grade level strong.
We're filled with pride seeing our students' eagerness to learn year-round. The progress students made and the joy they found in learning have reinforced our commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities.
Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and staff who made this summer's programs such a triumph. The skills and enthusiasm our students have gained will undoubtedly serve them well as they move forward in their educational journeys. Here's to a summer well spent and to the bright futures ahead for all our Noble learners!
Welcoming Our New Teachers
As we prepare for the new school year, we welcomed our newest educators with a comprehensive orientation program. A highlight was the unique Bus Tour, where new teachers visited every school in our district. This immersive experience offered insights into our students' communities and daily commutes. By experiencing the journey many students make each day, new teachers gained a deeper appreciation for their dedication and the potential impact on their school experience.
Another highlight of the orientation was the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) training session. Led by our district coordinator Missy Royce, Knowlton Behavior Interventionist, this session provided valuable insights into our approach to fostering a positive school climate. Our new teachers learned about data-driven strategies and systems to encourage respectful behavior, create a supportive classroom environment, and effectively manage challenges that may arise.
We were fortunate to have a Q&A panel featuring long-time Noble educators from across grades and content areas! These experienced teachers who have dedicated years to our district were excited to share practical advice and wisdom.
To our new teachers and staff: welcome aboard! We're excited to see the positive impact you'll make in the lives of our students. Our MSAD #60 Teachers and Staff are thrilled to be working alongside our Noble community as we embark on another year of growth, learning, and achievement.
Here's to a fantastic school year ahead!
