*Car Rider Reminders*
Our FCE morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up line has a very specific pattern to help keep everyone safe. Please take a look at this map, and note that we need drivers to pull into the Jr. High parking lot and then widely loop around to line up along the sidewalk, as shown by the arrows. Please do not form a line onto Olio. Children should exit the vehicle on the sidewalk side while adults remain in the vehicle. Please do not park in the lot and walk your child through car rider traffic. Share this with anyone dropping-off/ picking-up your students to help keep our students and staff safe!
Conversation Starters
Compassion:
Empathy is defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It involves putting yourself in someone else's shoes, imagining how they might feel, and experiencing a sense of resonance with their emotions.
Examples of empathy:
- Feeling sadness or happiness for someone else’s sadness or happiness
- Statements like "I feel for you," or "I understand what you're going through"
- Sensing or literally feeling another person's emotional state
Compassion goes beyond empathy. Compassion is characterized by a genuine sense of care, kindness, and a willingness to take action to help others in need.
Examples of compassion:
- Offering to help someone in need
- Apologizing for a mistake and owning up to when you've hurt someone
- Volunteering or donating

LAST CALL! Recycle your Old Lights!!!
Dear HSE Staff, Students, and Families,
This Holiday Season, HSE is asking you to give a gift to the Earth by making the choice to be more sustainable. HSE Schools will be hosting a district wide Holiday Light Recycling Program. Starting November 25th through January 15th each school will be collecting old, broken, tangled, or unwanted holiday lights. Technology Recyclers will take these unwanted/unusable lights and break them down into useable components that will be used to make new products.

- 2020/2021 -3,519 lbs of holiday lights.
2021/2022 - 4,711 lbs of holiday lights.
2022/2023 - 4,519 lbs of holiday lights
2023/2024 - 2,322 lbs of holiday lights.
PLEASE DO NOT:
- Please do not include any packing material.
- Please do not include any apparatus used to wind up or store the lights.
- Please do not include lights wrapped in garland.
PLEASE DO:
- Please place your lights in the recycling box (many will be stored in the front office, media centers, or science classrooms).
- Ask your friends, neighbors, social groups, and family members if they also have lights that need to be recycled.
- Do your part to be more sustainable this year!
R.A.V.E. Reviews!
Do you know of an HSE staff member who deserves a shoutout? Someone who consistently goes above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Give them a R.A.V.E. Review and share your appreciation! It’s simple to do - just complete a quick online form here: hseschools.org/rave. You can send as many reviews as you’d like throughout the school year.
R.A.V.E. stands for Recognizing All Valuable Employees, and it’s our way of celebrating the incredible staff who make Hamilton Southeastern Schools a fantastic place to learn and grow.
Parent Volunteers & Safe Visitor Background Checks
If you are planning to visit or volunteer at FCE this year during school hours, you will need a Safe Visitor Background Check. There will be several opportunities for parent volunteers here at FCE, including FIELD TRIPS, FIELD DAY, etc. In order to volunteer at a school event during school hours (or attend a PTO meeting during school hours), you must have a current SafeVisitor background check on file. In order to obtain your Safe Visitor pass, please click on the link below and follow the directions. Please keep in mind it sometimes takes a few weeks to process, so be sure you give yourself plenty of time!
Present for Success
At Hamilton Southeastern Schools, our primary goal is to ensure every student receives a high-quality education, but we can't do it alone. Frequent absences hinder academic progress, adding stress for students, families, and teachers. That’s why we’re asking families to partner with us in ensuring regular attendance, so together, we can support every student’s academic success.
