New Strategic Plan

Over the last two days, we facilitated a Strategic Planning process to create a roadmap for the District. With 30 individuals representing various parts of our community and district stakeholders, we had discussions, identified areas of need, and arrived at four goals that established a blueprint for success for Chisago Lakes School District.
Here are the four goals we are committing our effort towards:
Goal #1: Maximizing the value of education through all available streams.
With Chisago Lakes ranking 311 out of 328 Minnesota school districts in funding, the need to advocate for our fair share of resources is paramount to the success for our students. The work of this goal is to develop solutions to generate dollars to protect the investments we have made for our students.
Goal #2: Expand the framework for implementation of evidence based instructional practices that allows all students, staff, and teachers to thrive.
Our work in literacy, student support systems, career pathway programs, and college and career readiness establishes us as a leader in the state. This goal focuses on enhancing programs and advancing practices to new heights.
Goal #3: Share authentic, compelling, and trust-building narratives with our Chisago Lakes community through strategic storytelling.
Telling our story is paramount in building trust, understanding, support, and pride in our schools. This goal will construct a variety of ways, audiences, and topics to increase overall knowledge of the great things we do.
Goal #4: Coordinate opportunities to increase community involvement.
Connections and relationships are the hallmark of the work we do in education. In this goal we will work to make inroads and invitations to our communities to be partners in educating the students of the next generation.
Goal #5: Purposefully facilitating and engaging the students, staff, families, and community members.
The key to any successful school district is to be an active listener, ask for feedback, and demonstrate the ability to put the suggestions into action. The goal of this group is to find ways to open our doors to community engagement and recognize the power of collective support in achieving successful outcomes for all.
Over the course of the next few weeks, committees will be formed to execute the plan that has been developed around each of the goals. We will look at having our first meetings in January 2025.
To ensure that all stakeholders and community members have the information, we developed a communication plan to keep people informed of our progress. We will utilize e-mail, positing on our website and social media, and the local newspaper. Furthermore, you can look for updates in our new community newsletter as well and our annual report. Both of these publications will be sent to every taxpayer in our five communities.
In the future, you can expect to hear on-going communication from the District to share our progress and celebrate our successes as we work diligently to achieve successful outcomes for our goals.
As you can tell from the plan we’ve laid out, we are all in on this endeavor and are excited to launch these goals and make them our realities in the future.
