A Note from Dr. McAboy, LCCS Head of School
LCCS Parents,
Thank you for trusting your child to Lake Center Christian School. I will never tire of the excitement of the early days of August. I am overwhelmed by the privilege we have to partner with you as you seek to raise your children to love and follow Jesus.
More than January, the first days of school feel like the new year to me. I even start the school year each year with resolutions. And If I could be so bold, I would love to add one of my resolutions to yours. Resolve with me to not try to parent alone. The job we’ve been given as parents is too hard, the stakes are too high, and the time is too short for us to try to do it alone. Let’s link arms with each other, being strong when others are in need and accepting the strength of others when we are in need.
I pray we’ll be a community that doesn’t hide our brokenness, but instead lets it be a testimony to our God’s grace and mercy. I pray that each of us will get the help we need to overcome what it is that keeps us from being who God intended us to be. Truth is, in thirty years of Christian Education, I’ve walked with families through nearly every conceivable situation. I don’t know what struggles you’ll face this year, but I pray you’ll know you’re not called to go through them alone.
As I pray for you and your children and our year ahead, I’m reminded of a story I once heard about the golfer Arnold Palmer. Palmer was playing exhibition matches in Saudi Arabia, and the king was so impressed that he offered to buy Palmer a gift. Palmer refused at first, but eventually relented, saying if the king really wanted to buy him a small gift, a golf club to remember his time there would be nice. The following day, a messenger delivered to Palmer the title to a golf club: thirty-six holes, trees, lakes, and buildings.
The moral of the story? When you’re in the presence of the king, don’t ask for small gifts.
Hebrews 4:16 says, “Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Just as many of you are praying for all of us at LCCS, know we are praying boldly for you and your family. What an honor it is to join this beautiful community. I can’t wait to get started!
Together,
Tim McAboy
Head of School
