Dear Parents and Carers
Wellbeing
In Week 6 each term, we remind staff to reflect upon all aspects of their wellbeing - spiritual, physical, mental and social/emotional. We also ask families to reflect on how you can support your children in aspects of their wellbeing. Some examples are listed below:
Spiritual – encourage your child to pray, to speak to God and to call upon the Holy Spirit in challenging times
Physical – ensure your child is getting enough sleep and has a regular bed-time
Mental – refrain from being on social media apps that have an age restriction
Social/Emotional – to spend time developing friendships after school and on the weekends
National Sorry Day
On Friday we will speak to our students about National Sorry Day which commemorates the Stolen Generations and we will speak to them in an age appropriate way about the importance of efforts towards reconciliation between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians.
Week 7 and 8 Short Weeks
A reminder that we have a pupil free day on Friday 31st of May, Week 7 and a public holiday on Monday 3rd of June, Week 8.
Sacraments
On Sunday last week, our staff attended Mass to celebrate some of our Year 6 students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a beautiful Mass and we congratulate the children who took this important step in their faith journey. A big thank to Mrs Henery and Mrs Ottobrino for their work in preparing our students so well. Our Year 3 Catholic students are now starting formal preparations to receive the Sacrament of Penance, with a Penance Introduction Meeting at 5.30pm this Thursday at the parish.
Congratulations
We congratulate Mrs Ottobrino (nee Miss Smith) on her recent marriage and wish her a lifetime of happiness.
We also congratulate Ms Neal on completing the RCI program and on receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation in Our Lady of Mercy Parish.
