Parents and community members gathered at Gibson Elementary for Breakfast with a Buddy, a special event where they enjoyed a meal with their children while engaging in fact fluency practice using flashcards. Families also had the opportunity to take the flashcards home for continued learning.

Families gathered at George Washington High School to celebrate students who achieved honor roll for the second quarter. A school counselor also provided important information about upcoming class registration.

Park Avenue held a 'Breakfast with a Buddy' event, where students and families came together to practice and strengthen their fact fluency skills in a fun and engaging way!

Graduates from Adult and Career Education Center, Galileo Magnet High School and R.I.S.E Academy were all smiles during the Winter Commencement Ceremony held this week. Commencement speaker, Dr. Gwyndolyn Stone (CTE Director, Danville Public Schools) gave a compelling message to graduates and parents about the importance of a changed mind. Congratulations graduates!!

Westwood Middle School scholars participated in the Danville Public Schools History Day Competition last week. Way to go TIGERS! Keep up the extraordinary work!

The City of Danville Police Department hosted a Community Walk this week, joined by the Danville Public Schools' FACE Team and other community partners. Together, they visited neighborhood homes, engaging with residents to foster relationships and strengthen community trust.

The Danville Police Department is now taking applications for the Youth Police Academy, happening June 9-26. The program will take place Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information and application links, view the full news release.
