5th Grade Students Interested in 6th Grade Band
Dear Parents,
Beginning this Wednesday, we will be conducting instrument fittings for students interested in joining the band. This is an exciting opportunity for your student to explore various instruments such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. We welcome all students who would like to participate.
Following the fittings, each student will have an individual meeting with Mr. Amendt to select the instrument they feel most confident and comfortable with. With typically around 150-160 students enrolled at Horizon each year, we aim to ensure a diverse representation of instruments for a well-balanced band while also considering classroom space.
Participation in the band program offers a unique experience for students, and we encourage them to give try it for at least one year. Our band program at Mustang is thriving across all grades, and we want your child to have the opportunity to be a part of it if they so choose.
Here are a few key points for parents to keep in mind:
Band is a year-long commitment, and we advise against mid-year switches to ensure students receive a comprehensive band experience.
Instrument ownership is not required initially. We will host instrument rental days in August next year where you can rent to own or purchase an instrument.
Your child does not need prior experience in playing an instrument. We will provide all necessary instruction and support.
We will hand out letters to students indicating the instrument they will play next year.
This is your child's only chance to participate in band at Mustang
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at amendtc@mustangps.org. Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to working with our beginning band next year!
Warm regards,
Craig Amendt
