Congratulations to Ronald Lippitt on his Board of Education appointment
Ronald Lippitt was appointed to the Walled Lake Board of Education as a trustee on May 20. He will be formally sworn in and take the oath of office prior to the May 23 Board of Education special meeting.
Walled Lake Cobras punch its first ticket to state tournament in program history
The Walled Lake girls’ water polo team is headed to the Michigan Water Polo Association (MWPA) state tournament for the first time in program history.
The Cobras, which are made up of student-athletes from all three Walled Lake high schools and International Academy, punched their ticket over the weekend with a thrilling upset win over Saline-Milan, 4-2.
“I could not be more proud or excited for this group of hard-working athletes to have made program history in qualifying for the state championship,” said head coach Claire Batosic. “Their passion for the sport and dedication to the team all season is what made it possible for them to achieve this accomplishment.”
The Walled Lake Cobras will meet Hudsonville in the MWPA state quarterfinals on Friday, May 31, at the University of Michigan’s Canham Natatorium. The semifinals will then follow later that afternoon with the state championship on Saturday, June 1.
Two Walled Lake Northern records fall at MHSAA Regional Championships
Four Walled Lake Northern runners marked their place in Walled Lake Northern history on Friday afternoon at the MHSAA Division 1 Regional Championships at Milford High School.
Senior Kate Carter ran like a gazelle in the 300 meter hurdles to claim the regional title and etch her name in the program record books. Carter shattered a 12-year-old record clocking a time of 45.09 to set a new program mark by more than a full second (46.19).
Carter also helped set a new the program record in the 4x400 meter relay. Carter, Maddie Gordon, Ava Kurczewski and Ella Thompson reset their own record with a time of 3:58.18. Their previous record was 4:00.40.
Walled Lake Western relay team sets new program mark
Walled Lake Western’s 4x100 meter relay team took down a quarter century year old record on Friday at the MHSAA Division 1 Regional Championships at Milford High School.
The relay team made up of Rodney Endsley, Brennan Lynch, Troy Temple and Jaxon Lippert clocked a time of 42.67 in the 4x100, which broke the previous record of 42.71 set back in 1999.
Walled Lake Central Model United Nations shines at MeDSEC
The Walled Lake Central Model United Nations Club shined over the weekend at the annual Metro Detroit Model United Nations Conference held at Walled Lake Western.
The Vikings earned the highest honors as Best Large Delegation and five students took home Best Delegate Awards; Marissa Carroll (Russian Federation), Hasini Julai (France), Alessia Rakaj (Italy), Kevin Malile (South Korea), and Sophia Muraco (Indonesia).
Walled Lake Central Model UN Club president Ryo Ikeda, along with Walled Lake Western’s president Bryce Zachariah, were also selected to lead their respective committees as chairs.

Walled Lake Schools Board of Education seeks appointee candidates
The Walled Lake Schools Board of Education is currently accepting applications for a vacant position on the Board. This vacancy comes following Christy Tice’s resignation effective immediately.
The process the Walled Lake Schools Board of Education will follow includes:
Accepting applications to serve on the Board of Education from Thursday, May 23 to Thursday, May 30 at 4 p.m.
Review of applications and the selection of candidates by the Board of Education at 11 a.m., Monday, June 3 at the Educational Services Center (850 Ladd Road, Bldg. D, Walled Lake, MI 48390).
Interviews of applicants will take place by the Board of Education, at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 10 at the Educational Services Center (850 Ladd Road, Bldg. D, Walled Lake, MI 48390).
Appointment of the candidate will take place during the meeting on June 10.

District partners with GoFan as digital ticket partner for all athletic events
Walled Lake Consolidated Schools has partnered with GoFan for digital ticketing starting this spring for all home athletic events.
Fans can purchase tickets online through each schools’ GoFan page or by presenting a card or mobile payment option at the ticket gate. All major credit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, will be accepted.
Fans are encouraged to buy tickets online before arriving at the event. For your convenience, signage will be set up at the venue to help fans make an online purchase quickly and easily.
As the district launches its new partnership with GoFan, cash payments will be accepted as well throughout the remainder of the spring athletic season. No cash options will be available starting in the Fall of 2024.
