Elementary News From Mrs. Mary Koonce
Look out 2025, we’re bringing the 1990’s back to Elementary Faith Formation! Not with Beanie Babies or Backstreet Boys, but with one simple question: What Would Jesus Do? WWJD bracelets were ALL the rage when I was in middle and high school (I wore my sterling silver one until the leather straps finally quit on me!). Aside from being trendy, they were designed to remind you to act like Jesus. While the bracelet didn’t help me walk on water or turn stones into bread, it encouraged me to treat others with compassion and respect. During this season of Ordinary Time, my hope is to bring back WWJD by highlighting Jesus’s many acts of public service. Jesus ministered through his compassion for others. What are ordinary ways that we can show compassion to others? Holding open a door for someone, having good classroom behavior, offering to help around the house without being asked, or not complaining when asked to help.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the example of your son, Jesus. Through listening to his teachings, and following his examples, we grow closer to you and to the people you designed us to be. Help us to recognize how our special talents can help others, and to appreciate the different talents of others. Together, we are the working body of Christ, building the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth. In your most holy name we pray, Amen.
Archdiocese Safe Environment Protocols
In the month of October and April, our Faith Formation programs will be going over some safe environment and boundary topics with our students. Each program coordinator will provide you with more information on specifics.

Safety Procedures
The safety of our students, families, volunteers, and staff is a top priority for our Faith Formation Ministry. It is important to us that parents feel comfortable and confident while their children attend classes at SEAS. We take several steps to ensure we are providing a safe environment for all.
Each of our volunteers and all of the staff are required to take Safe Environment Trainings. Our Good Shepherd and Elementary students must be picked up from their classroom to guarantee that they leave with a trusted adult.
To help with safety measures, we ask that parents read the below handbook provided by the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
