The Riverwalk Roar
The Riverwalk Roar: November 17, 2024
Happy Sunday, Pride,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. My daughter and I spent ours in Cumming, GA, where I had the honor of officiating a Paralympic swim meet, and my daughter volunteered as a timer. Cumming is about four hours from Rock Hill, so we had plenty of time together on the drive home. As she worked on her homework in the passenger seat, I took time to reflect on our community at Riverwalk. After the initial shock of realizing that Thanksgiving is next week, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for all the good we share here.
At Riverwalk Academy, we recognize the value of gratitude—not just in November, but as part of our daily lives. First and foremost, I am thankful for our students, who bring energy, curiosity, and joy into our school each day. Watching them grow, learn, and achieve reminds us of our purpose and keeps us focused on providing a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment. Their accomplishments—big and small—are at the heart of our work.
I am also grateful for our dedicated staff, who bring relentless passion to their work. From classroom teachers and support staff to administrators, everyone is united in ensuring that our students receive the best education possible. Their commitment extends beyond academics; they are role models and mentors, building relationships that make a lasting impact.
And of course, I want to express my gratitude to you, our Pride. Your involvement, trust, and support mean everything to us. You are our partners in this journey, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for creating a culture of respect and kindness within our school.
As we enter this season of gratitude, I encourage everyone to reflect daily on something they’re thankful for—a friend, a challenge, or a small victory. Thankfulness has a unique way of brightening our perspective, and together, we can model this attitude for our students.
In Pride and Purpose,
~Dr. Compton
An exciting milestone for Riverwalk Academy as a group of our 9th grade students become the first to tour the brand new upper school building! They got a sneak peek at the innovative classrooms and spaces designed to enhance their learning experience. It’s an unforgettable moment as they step into the future of their education and help shape the next chapter of our school’s growth.
