We will be celebrating people's testimonies and how they came to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

***Please be reminded that students need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Students also need to be vomit free for 24 hours as well.

🐸🐸🐸 You are invited to dress like "cute little frogs" on Thursday for LEAP Day!!

If students are late to be picked up from SACC, the first time there will be a $10 late fee charged, the 2nd time there will be a $20 late fee charged, and the third time there will be a $30 late fee charged. After the third time, the student will not be allowed to use SACC for the rest of that quarter. The fee schedule will restart at the beginning of every quarter.

*Fees must be paid before you can return to SACC.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. Just a reminder that SACC ends at 5:00 pm.

Track practice will begin on March 4th for any 5th-8th grader. Our first practice will be at NHCS until 5. We will have a parent meeting that day at 5 in the gym. I know there is a volleyball game that evening as well so I will have everything in paper form as well for volleyball parents.

Most of our practices will be at Centralia High School Track from 4:15-5:30. We may have groups of athletes stay later to work on individual events. We will let you know in advance.

The March practice schedule is in teamreach along with track meets. The meet schedule is finalized except for the addition of a meet at DuQuion if we are able to get since that is where the state meet is located.

**I will try to stick to the practice schedule as closely as possible. There may be days the high school asks us not to come for whatever reason or poor weather. We will then practice at NHCS until 5 on those days. I will inform you of that information ASAP.

**All students need to have a physical on file to participate.

**Students are not allowed to be dropped off at any NHCS event without an adult accompanying them.

**Students must remain in the building throughout the duration of the event. They will not be allowed to play on the playground unless an adult is with them.

Registration for the 24/25 school year will open on Monday, March 4th. Stay tuned for more details.

Ledger Whisenand is a 5 year old in Ms. Peggy’s preschool class at New Horizon. Ledger was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) before he was born. Basically his left ventricle had stopped growing. Ledger had to operate life with only half of a working heart. There is no cure for HLHS just multiple surgeries at different stages of life to prolong his heart function. He had his last planned surgery, The Fontan, in April of 2022 which led to a 113 day hospital admission and multiple complications including a stroke. June of 2023 Ledger was diagnosed with protein losing enteropathy. His Fontan was failing and on October 3rd, 2023 Ledger was admitted to start a heart transplant work up. What we originally associated with adjusting to preschool, was actually his heart becoming weaker. He was listed for a heart transplant on November 17, 2023. Ledger has been inpatient at Cardinal Glennon for over 130 days now. We like to say we are truly just hanging out even though it’s not ideal. He is still happy, playful, silly and doesn’t complain about his circumstances. Ledger constantly displays what true patience really is. We know God has a plan and we have to continue to trust Him.

Thank you for your generous support. We were able to give Ledger's family close to $3000. Please continue to pray for this family.

Any 6th-8th Grader is able to participate in running club at lunch. We will run during their lunch time and eat during their recess time. We will run for about 15-20 minutes. I ask the students don't bring things that need to be heated up on these days.

Running club will take place the next 3 weeks on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as long as the weather allows. We will not run in the rain or cold weather since the students will head back to class after their run. Students will have 3 minutes to get ready.

A permission slip needs to be signed. They were passed out at the end of the day Thursday. Below is a copy.

12:00 Dismissal on Friday, March 1st for teacher in-service. This is also the end of the 3rd Quarter.

We will have outdoor recess as long as the real feel temperature is above 40 degrees. Please send your child with a coat and anything else they may need to stay warm.

Spring Break will be from March 29th-April 7th.

NHCS will have an e-learning day on Monday, April 8th due to the solar eclipse. There are many uncertainties with solar eclipse such as traffic and students keeping their glasses on. Student safety is our top priority.

We will be sending home solar eclipse glasses that were donated to us. You and your family can use these if you choose to do so.
