MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear USchool Community,
As I write this last message to you, I am filled with gratitude for being given the opportunity to serve as the Director of University School. Having worked so closely with Dr. Hollingsworth for most of my time at USchool, I have endeavored to honor her legacy by ensuring that our physical space is safe, beautiful, and welcoming, our students are nurtured and challenged, and our teachers are supported. I am particularly proud of the campus improvements we’ve made over the past couple of years. We started last year with video camera installation both inside and outside of our building. We continued this year by adding security fencing around the south playground, card readers on all exterior doors, and, most recently, impact resistant film on the first-floor windows and doors and all interior classroom doors. These upgrades have given our teachers tremendous peace of mind, and I know Dr. Hollingsworth would be pleased.
Since 2008, a full 25% of our graduates have been recognized as National Merit Scholars. Our students go on to become leaders in their high schools and colleges, and they continue to be recognized with success in all their competitions such as Academic Bowl, MATHCOUNTS, First Lego League Robotics, and Odyssey of the Mind. One of Dr. Hollingsworth’s core beliefs is that “bright children need to learn to work hard.” We honor her legacy by teaching our students, your children, how to do this, and it continues to pay off.
Good teachers are the heart of any school. Because of her early experiences teaching in overcrowded and under supported schools, the teaching environment was incredibly important to Dr. Hollingsworth. She intentionally created a school setting conducive to teaching. One of my top priorities as Director has been to ensure that our teachers feel supported. I am very happy to report that under my leadership, teacher salaries were increased by an average of 14%, and an additional cost-of-living increase is scheduled for the coming school year.
As I close, I would like to thank all the members of my teaching and administrative team. They are the best I have ever worked with. I want to thank every one of you for allowing me to be a part of your children’s educational journey. What an incredible honor! Your outpouring of well-wishes and support for my retirement is humbling.
Finally, I want to thank TU administration. I have been continuously supported throughout these past four years whenever I needed anything. It is such an honor and an asset to USchool to be a part of the TU family. I see my legacy as being the bridge between Dr. Hollingsworth’s work getting the school established and the future of this incredible school. My role has been to be true to her vision and to be sure we’re well-prepared for the next phase. The university is as committed to the continued success of University School as Dr. Hollingsworth was in the beginning, and as I have been for the past 29 years. I look forward to my retirement, and I am excited to see the great things to come for University School.
With extreme gratitude,
Debbie Price

2024-2025 USchool Clubs
University School offers students access to a variety of extra-curricular clubs and activities. These are administered through our Extended Day Program, and in most cases, are sponsored and supervised by University School staff and/or teachers. Clubs may have eligibility requirements as designated by the sponsor. Information about these clubs is available in the files below to help you in planning for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Club Descriptions document provides detailed descriptions of each club. The Clubs-at-a-Glance document provides an overview of clubs by day and time and includes the sponsor and grade level eligibility.
*Enrollment in clubs is available online now here: 2024-2025 Club Enrollment
This information and the link will be sent out again in July. Space can be limited, so early enrollment is recommended.
*Only clubs that do not require an application or tryouts have online enrollment. For any club requiring an application or tryout, information about how to apply or try out will be distributed to students and parents after school starts in August.
If you have any questions about clubs, please contact Kristy Newell at kristy-newell@utulsa.edu.
CHESS CLUB - PLEASE NOTE
At the time the email about club signup was sent out, Chess Club was not available for enrollment since it previously required an application. This has changed, and an application is not required for Chess Club for Fall 2024. If you already signed up for clubs and wanted your student to be in Chess Club, you may submit another form to enroll in Chess Club, which has been added to the online form.
If you have a student who will be in P2 or P3 (1st or 2nd grade) next year who is an experienced chess player that is interested in Chess Club, please contact one of the club sponsors (Ms. Sipe or Mrs. Dye) for further information.
