January 2025
Happy New Year!
We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday break. With our holiday break extended with snow days, we are ready and excited to see the students back at Lakeview! I know all of the parents were ready to send the students back to school. As of Monday, January 13, the Wentzville School District has used two snow days and three AMI days. As a result of our snow days, our second quarter report card dates have gotten pushed back. Student report cards will be available to parents on Wednesday, January 15 at 4:00 p.m.
It's hard to believe that we have already reached the halfway mark for the 2024-2025 school year! First semester was one filled with hard work and accomplishments from all of our staff and students. We have much to be proud of at Lakeview, and we are looking forward to the growth that we will continue to make as we enter into a new semester.
Lakeview Elementary Receives Academic Performance Distinction and Recognition
On Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released its 2024 Annual Performance Report (APR) for all Missouri school districts, including the Wentzville School District.
What is an APR?
DESE's Annual Performance Report (APR) evaluates Missouri students and schools based on state standards. It is part of the Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP) 6 and is one way parents and communities assess districts and schools. The report includes performance and continuous improvement metrics, and it considers how districts serve all students and student groups. The APR is the primary factor in a district’s accreditation status. The 2024 APR academic data is based on the 2023-24 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing cycle.
What were the results for WSD and Lakeview?
Overall, the Wentzville School District scored 89.2% meeting accreditation requirements and showing improvement from the previous year’s score of 84.4%.
Lakeview Elementary received 91 out of 92 possible points and scored 98.8% showing an improvement of 17.1% from the previous year’s score of 81.8% . Lakeview’s score of 98.8% is the highest APR score of any WSD school for this year. Furthermore, this is the highest score of any WSD school during this MSIP 6 three-year period. In fact, Lakeview Elementary’s score was the highest APR score for any elementary school in the entire St. Charles County.
Lakeview Elementary Receives National Recognition
Congratulations to the entire LVE school community on earning the US News & World Report award for being one of the best elementary schools in the country. This is a tremendous honor for our school. Lakeview was one of four elementary Wentzville Schools to be recognized with this distinction.
Finally, Lakeview Elementary was also recognized by Niche as the #137 out of 1,152 Missouri public elementary schools and the #1 elementary school in the WSD. LVE ranks in the top 11% of elementary schools in the state.
Inclement Weather & AMI Update
Welcome back! Thank you for your flexibility last week as we used two traditional snow days and three AMI (alternative methods of instruction) days following our first big weather event of the season with more snow coming in Friday. We're incredibly grateful to our dedicated maintenance, custodial, and transportation teams for their round-the-clock efforts in moving the snow and preparing our schools for students to return.
In case you missed it, this email contains a helpful reminder of our snow day schedule and process for the year. Though our current Academic Calendar has the last day of school set for May 30, with this plan, students could get out earlier. The official last day of school will not be changed until we are well through snow season to avoid multiple revisions. You can reference the image above to see an update of where we are in the schedule.
We understand this may be a little confusing, so we will share this graphic with a new check mark noting each used snow day to help you stay informed on our current status.
WSD FOCUS Update
Signing Students In/Out
(Very Important Information for Parents- Please Read)
With the update to the Focus software, the way you will sign your student in and out at the office has changed. We are no longer using the touch screen at the front desk. This has been replaced with a scanner kiosk that parents must now use for signing students in and out.
To use the scanner, you must access the barcode of your student located within the Focus app. There are instructions attached on how to access the barcode. Barcodes are not accessible on the Focus website, only the app. If you do not have the barcode when you are signing a student in or out, you must know your student's ID# and enter it manually. Please take the time to screenshot your barcode(s) for easy access when in the office, or write down student numbers in an easy to locate place. Your help in being prepared with this information will allow for a more quick and efficient check-in/out process.
District Emails
If you're not receiving emails from WSD staff or schools, they might be landing in your spam folder. Learn more on how to fix that. You'll want to make sure you familiarize yourself with the district email domain: All district emails are delivered from: noreply@sis.wsdr4.org.
Here are a few training videos you may find helpful as well.

The Cost of an Absence
Make the most of classroom opportunities!
When students are not in school, they miss opportunities to participate in classroom activities and socialize with peers. By attending school each day, students are more engaged in learning! Research shows that children who miss more school in kindergarten and first grade gain 15% fewer literacy and math skills than their peers. Students who attend school when they are not sick set a firm foundation for success in the future!

Wear It Wednesday
Wear it Wednesday!
Every Wednesday at Lakeview is a House Spirit Day, which we call WEAR IT WEDNESDAY! If your child wears a shirt reflecting their house color, they get one house point. We recognize not all families or students have official house shirts, and we want to recognize students who rock their house colors. As a reminder the colors are:
Altruismo - Black
Amistad - Red
Isibindi - Green
Reveur - Blue
If your child comes to school in a house shirt OR wearing a shirt of their color, they earn a point for their house.
