Rectory Construction Update #2
January 31, 2025

Framing Edition
January Progress Update
Welcome to the second rectory construction newsletter! These newsletters will come every few weeks as construction progresses to give a snapshot of what's happened and what's to come.
In December, we saw the excavation and foundation work underway. Since then, Payne & Payne Builders has worked on foundation drainage, downspout laterals, and backfilling. A large propane tank was brought in for temporary heating after framing to keep the house a little warmer for the trade partners.
This month, we noticed daily changes to the build site as the framing went up. Once the framers started working on the first floor, the project became very visible from the street view! The first floor went up on Thursday, January 30 which also coincided with the publication of an article about the new rectory in the Geauga Maple Leaf. Check out that article HERE if you haven't already.
In the month ahead, we will see framing finished as well as the brick masons begin their work around the house. They need to avoid laying bricks in freezing conditions in order for the mortar to set properly. The framers will continue to build "up" to get the shell of the home in place with load bearing walls, and then work back down to fill non-bearing walls. A private utility company will also run fiber line from the school to the new rectory in this time frame.
In the background, I've been contacting landscaping companies to get bids and working on plans for a rectory tabernacle and custom-built altar. I'll provide updates on these items in a future newsletter.
Enjoy this second edition of the Rectory Newsletter. I can't thank you enough for your interest, support, and prayers for this monumental project for our parish! We still have Prayer Plaque opportunities available if you're interested in contributing to ancillary rectory costs and other capital needs at the parish.
