Principal's Message
Greetings Santa Cruz Gardens Families!
This Dispatch is packed with Good stuff!
Thank you so much for offering us your input on the recent Kelvin Pulse Family Survey. It was truly a glow to see how much folks are appreciating the SCG community, teachers, and inclusive, student-centered culture at our school!
I look forward to sharing the results and discussing our next steps with our SCG School Site Council. If you are interested in helping us with school culture, mission, and action steps as a part of our school site council, we have a great team and would love to have you. Email me at calbano@suesd.org
We have been in full swing, all cylinders at SCG Elementary, and the community and culture has been shining! In the last 2 weeks, we have had a wonderful halloween parade/ dance off and community ofrenda. The SCG Community Garden Day (pictures below) was fantastic with a great turnout and an amazing compost sifting workshop facilitated by some of our very own student Green Team.
Our character assembly last Friday focused on Gratitude- please see Counselor Ms. Sue's message below on our month's focus on Gratitude. Be sure to also check out our new student-starred video on Gratitude by SUESD's very own media arts guru Marc Lewis with some of our Dolphin. We also have a video on Empathy : )

November: GRATITUDE
Gratitude is choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.
This month, students will learn about gratitude, an essential character trait. We will continue to prioritize the development of emotional awareness and regulation for our younger students, as these are crucial skills that will help them identify gratitude in various situations.
Older students will explore gratitude as a strategy for positive self-talk and stress management tools. I invite you to continue the conversation at home with your students; a family newsletter with ideas and suggestions is linked HERE and AQUÍ. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you! ~ Ms. Sue, SCG School Counselor
