CVU Celebrations
May 9, 2025
Dear CVU Community,
Today, seniors delivered their Exit Experience Presentations to an audience of advisors, fellow advisees, and invited family and friends. Through the lenses of Identity, Connection, Direction, and Proficiency, they shared personal reflections on their journeys—highlighting moments of growth, meaningful relationships, and the experiences that have shaped their past, present, and future.
The day was filled with emotion—tears, laughter, hugs, and plenty of smiles—as the Class of 2025 opened up about their time at CVU and the paths they’re preparing to follow. It’s always one of my favorite days of the school year—hearing what mattered most to our students, which classes, teachers, or experiences sparked their passions, and how they’ve come to understand themselves and their direction moving forward.
To our seniors: you made your parents, caregivers, teachers, and classmates incredibly proud today. Thank you.
Below is the Mack/Mead advisory. In a very sweet move, all of their juniors surprised the seniors!

From Jacklyn Whittier: During the months of March and April, members of the student-led club ASAAP (Abuse, Sexual Assault Awareness, and Prevention) worked with the 9th-grade core wellness teachers to present to all of the freshman health classes about “Consent and Sexual Violence: How It Applies to You”. Collectively, we presented 16 different times, therefore ensuring that all 9th graders in our school have the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and the resources available to them if they need help.
Learning about consent is crucial for building healthy relationships and fostering a culture of respect. It’s about understanding boundaries and respecting individual choices. Now is the time to start learning.
We want to thank our incredible presenters, who took time out of their classes to teach the next generation: Jackie Whittier, Emma Jean Armstrong, Miranda Stewart, Mira Novak, Clara Anderson, Isabelle Raby, Katelyn Whittier, Lu Hackerman, and Lucy Angolano.
From Henry Lang: Story Sharks performed at Charlotte Central School on Thursday. Nine young authors' stories were adapted for the stage by CVU students, fostering passion for creative writing. Thank you to Heidi Huestis, Jeri Belisle, Fiona Zahm, and Claire Thibeault for their help. Next stop: Allen Brook! (Photos by Tyler Cohen.)

From Carly Brown: The Spring Zoology classes caught a break in the rainy days to explore the Lake Champlain Ecosystem on the UVM Marcelle Melosira research boat last week. They practiced measuring turbidity using a Secchi disk, and also gathered, observed, and identified plankton using a plankton tow and on-boat microscopes. When students weren't on the boat, they observed adaptations of animals in our watershed at the ECHO Center. Pictured are: The group preparing microscope slides to find and identify phyto and zooplankton. Nolan, Julia, and Lina using a Secchi disk. Ella soaking up some sunshine on the boat.

From Emily Mitchell: Today 5 CVU Visual artists were acknowledged for their participation in the Congressional Art Competition! Clark Clark, Jacklyn Whittier, Ruby Kohn, Lio Miller and Eva Fewell had work selected for the show. Clark Clark was honored with both a Judges Award and the People’s Choice Award; Eva Fewell was selected for the Theme Award; and Jacklyn Whittier was chosen for the County Award!
All of these pieces will be displayed for the year at Congresswoman Becca Balint’s local Vermont office!
