April 2024
Message from Principal Terri Jackson
Greetings Woodland Families,
Spring is upon us, even with the recent snow! I hope your spring break was a perfect balance of rejuvenation, fun adventures, and rest.
As I reflect back for these past nine months, I can’t express enough of the tremendous partnership and incredible support you have provided for this school year. As your principal, I am so grateful for your grace, patience, and flexibility, and understanding. Most importantly, thank you for your belief and trust in us with your child’s education. I look forward to finishing out this year strong; focused on engaged learning in both academic and social emotional growth.
April will be another busy and exciting month. Students in grades 3 thru 5 will be taking their MCA testing. (please see the detailed schedule and important reminders in the next section of this newsletter) The PTO sponsored Carnival will take place on Friday, April 12th. Our kindergarten orientation will be on April 25th.
Our staff will begin planning for student placement for 2024-2025. Tremendous time and effort is given to designing well-balanced learning groups or classrooms. During this process, the following factors are considered: gender and race ratio, consistent class size, behavior and academics, peer relationships, maturity and self control, special needs and independence level. We want to make sure that each and every child will have the best environment to succeed. With that said, if you have information you believe would be helpful when assigning your child to a classroom next year, please use the link: https://forms.gle/JrY34EYZcmHqvEVMA
Thank you for your continued support and partnership!
Your Principal,
Terri Jackson
MCA Reading, Math & Science Testing
MCA testing for reading, math & science will be taking place in April. It is very important that your child is at school for these assessments. We ask that you have your student at school on time, and avoid making appointments during these times. Please let your teachers know if there is an unavoidable conflict prior to the test dates. Please see letter attached for more information.
Park Brook Double Dutch Presentation
