Principal's Message
Happy Rainy Friday Pattengill!
April is Ability Awareness Month and our students and staff are spending this month learning about and celebrating our differences. We started the month with Autism Awareness Week and each day our students participated in an activity that taught them about Autism. A read-aloud we enjoyed was A Friend Like Simon by Kate Gaynor. We also held Autism Awareness Spirit Week and it was amazing to see so many students participate. Pattengill is one of only two elementary schools in Berkley Schools with Autism programs.
Solar Eclipse Day was an unforgettable experience at Pattengill. Many families joined us to witness science coming to life. Together, we all watched in awe as the moon passed in front of the sun, creating a captivating moment of both fun and learning for everyone involved. What a great experience for our students and staff! A big thank you to our District for providing solar eclipse glasses for all students and staff.
Have a great weekend!
Proud to be your principal!

Joshua Daniels, Physical Education Teacher
Hello Pattengill Penguins! I am Josh Daniels and I am in my second year as the Physical Education teacher. I have been in education for 15 years and have worked as an administrator, teacher, and coach. I am married to my wife, Debbi, and have a very energetic daughter, Lindsey, who is five. I am a big sports fan and follow all of our local teams (even when they are not good). I really enjoy working with the students and our classes are filled with a lot of energy and movement. I am very happy and proud to be working at Pattengill Elementary!

M-STEP Testing Begins Next Week
M-STEP Testing
3rd through 5th grade students will begin M-STEP testing in the coming weeks. 3rd and 4th grade students are assessed in ELA and Math while 5th grade will be assessed in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Schools and districts use test results, among others, for school improvement initiatives that benefit students. The data gathered from this year's state assessments and other data will help our staff support students when they return to school next school year and move forward with their education.
Before the Test Tips
*Develop a positive attitude. Tell yourself, "I will do my best on this test."
*Get a good night's sleep the night before the test.
*Get up early enough to avoid hurrying to get ready for school.
*Eat a healthy breakfast.
During the Test Tips
*Relax and Stay calm.
*Listen carefully to the directions the teacher gives.
*Ask questions if you don't understand what to do.
*Read each question carefully. Find the key words. Try to figure out what the question is really asking.
