Dollenger Says....
Greetings North East,
Congratulation to our FBLA winners! Eight students have qualified to attend Nationals this June in California. Also, our FBLA was named Maryland FBLA Chapter of the Year for the second year in a row, and was also named the only FBLA chapter in Maryland to be a Hollis & Kitty Guy Gold Seal Chapter; which they will be recognized for at Nationals.
Just a reminder that the end of the Interim period is on Tuesday, March 4. Student should be mindful and submitting any missing work to earn the best grade possible on interim.
We have some more great events coming soon to NEHS like the Blue Locker Community Event on March 18 and 20, and the spring Drama production of Descendents: The Musical April 9 to 11. It's also never too late to assist the Parent Action Club which will hold their next meeting on March 4 via Zoom.
Let's keep supporting each other as well as keep turning in those attendance notes!
~Mr. Dollenger

Grades and Zeroes: NEHS ZAP! (Zeroes are not Permitted)
**The next report will be pulled on February 28th**
Parents and Students,
You will receive bi-weekly emails alerting you that your student has missing assignments, which are zeroes in the grade book. With things being so busy for so many people, this is a reminder for students and parents to check grades and turn in work. This email is useful to prompt conversations between students and their support systems to open up PowerSchool and look at their current grades. If you have questions about specific zeroes, assignments, how your student is doing in class, or why they have zeroes, then it is best to reach out to the student's teacher to get an idea of what's happening. These emails will come out to all students with zeroes every two weeks, so get on it and get those assignments turned in.
If you can't access PowerSchool to see your student's account and grades, please contact your student's guidance counselor to get the necessary information.
Attendance + Turning in all assignments = Success!
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Ms. Pucci, Assistant Principal
Students in our AVID 10 class heard from Dr. Foye last week. Dr. Foye is a former principal of NEHS and is currently the Executive Director of Secondary Schools for CCPS. Dr. Foye gave great insight to our AVID students about college and athletic life by explaining how to handle your academic business while still remaining eligible to participate in NCAA sports.
Athletic Eligibility
Spring athletics begin on March 1, 2025. To be eligible students must have
- passed all 2nd marking period classes
- complied with the CCPS attendance policy (no "Z" grades)
- completed and submitted required athletic forms packet and emergency card found on the CCPS athletics page (these packets are also available in the main office)
General Athletic Information
If you are planning on coming to support our student athletes please know that all events in the gymnasium will be charged admission.
NEHS is still experiencing problems with the implementation of credit and debit cards electronically at sporting events for admission. The poor cell service has made consistent and efficient use problematic. Please continue to be prepared to pay cash just in case this service is not working on any particular game day.
We do not allow backpacks, pets, or outside food (when we offer concessions). Any student under high school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In addition, once you leave the event, you may not return. There is no smoking or vaping anywhere on school property regardless of age.
No Outside Food Deliveries During the School Day
Please refrain from having food/beverages delivered or dropped off to students during the school day. Deliveries will be turned away. We thank you in advance for your assistance in reducing the amount of disruptions to school operations.
Bus Notes
As a reminder, a request to ride a different bus home or to school is reserved for emergencies and will need approval of administration. If you are requesting permission for your child to ride another bus, please follow the steps below:
· A written note from both parents indicating the reason for the request
· Please include your phone number on the note
· Notes must be received by noon on the day of the request
· Phone calls cannot be accepted
Fees in Powerschool
If you see a “Fee” in Powerschool it doesn’t represent any monetary obligation. It represents credit for students who stayed for twilight to be applied toward their attendance. One day of attendance is recouped through 2 hours of twilight school attendance.
Unfortunately, Powerschool does not have a clearer way to record and process this information. Further, at times credit toward attendance may be given to a group of students due to significant illness outbreaks, weather, or other extenuating circumstances- such as FOX 45 announcing on February 6th that Cecil County Schools are closed for the day when they are not.
We wish there was a more intuitive way to record this information and apologize for the confusion this has caused. To recap, any fee in powerschool does not represent any financial obligation, but reflects a twilight credit toward attendance.

Hello North East Families!
We are the Action Club, an organization very similar to the PTA/PTO from the elementary and middle schools. Anyone may join our club (free of charge), but we are primarily a group of parents who work together to do all that we can to support and enhance the experiences for the students, staff, and local community of North East High School (NEHS). We are here to promote NEHS’s curricular and extra-curricular support for school-wide activities in an effort to improve school spirit, provide enrichment, and develop positive student, teacher, parent, administrative, and community relationships.
