A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL - DR. O'NEIL B. ANKLE
Dear MAS Families,
Parents educating our children is a partnership. It’s a
tripartite arrangement between home, school and student.
It’s a partnership that cannot be taken for granted or
lightly. Children will grow academically, socially,
emotionally and otherwise when that partnership is
effective, instructive and constructive.
We are almost at the end of the first semester. Guess what,
we are seeing the evidence of the partnership at work.
However, I encourage those on the fence to come forth
and join.
Valued parents, my affirmation for your children remain
constant. That is, they “on a Mission”, and of such they
are “getting ready to Achieve”, which will lead them to
being “Successful.” That being said, playing your part in
helping them understanding this feature of their school life
is important. I(we) want your children to be great and
extraordinary.
We are here to help dreams and
aspirations become reality. Let us join hands and hearts in
this regards. In effect, I am drawn on what Henry Ford
said years ago, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping
together is progress. Working together is success.”
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. O'Neil B. Ankle

UPDATE: AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE
“School attendance: A building block to student achievement.” ~ Unknown
Our goal for average daily attendance is 95%. When students in a grade level meet this goal for a full week, they earn a Dress Down Day the following Monday. If they reach 100% attendance on any given day, they earn a Dress Down Day the next day!
For OCTOBER, the average daily attendance for each grade level was:
- 5th grade: 94%
- 6th grade: 96%
- 7th grade: 96%
- 8th grade: 90%
Overall average: 94%
As you can see, two grade levels are currently below our 95% goal. Compared to September, we’ve seen a 2% improvement. However, we are off our target by one percentage point. Thanks for sending out your children each day. While the grade 8 cohort needs to step up their game we are grateful for the gains we are making. Attendance Matters Every Day! Consistent attendance is essential for students to be well-prepared for all exams.
