A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL - DR. O'NEIL B. ANKLE
Dear MAS Families,
Educating our children is a partnership — a collaborative effort between home, school, and student!
This partnership cannot be taken for granted; it is essential for student success, helping them grow academically, socially, emotionally, and beyond. When this partnership is effective, instructive, and constructive, we see tremendous growth in our students. As we approach the end of the first semester, we’re already seeing the positive impact of this partnership at work. I encourage those still on the fence to join us in this endeavor, as your role is invaluable.
My affirmation for your child remains steadfast: they are “on a Mission” at MAS, one that leads them to “Achieve” and ultimately become “Successful.” Helping them understand and embrace this mindset will be fundamental to their journey. We are here to help make their dreams and aspirations a reality, and we ask that we join hands and hearts to make this possible.
I am reminded of Henry Ford’s words: “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. O'Neil B. Ankle

UPDATE: AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE
"School attendance: A building block to student achievement." ~ Unknown
Our goal for average daily attendance is 95 percent. When students in a grade level meet this goal for a full week, they earn a Dress Down Day the following Monday. If they reach 100 percent attendance on any given day, they earn a Dress Down Day the next day!
For October, the average daily attendance for each grade level was:
• 5th grade: 94 percent
• 6th grade: 96 percent
• 7th grade: 96 percent
• 8th grade: 90 percent
Overall average: 94 percent
As you can see, two grade levels are currently below our 95 percent goal, but we’ve seen a 2 percent improvement since September. Though we’re just one percentage point away from our target, we’re grateful for the progress. Thank you for sending your children each day. While our 8th grade cohort has some catching up to do, we’re encouraged by these gains. Attendance Matters Every Day!
Consistent attendance is essential for students to be well-prepared for all exams.
