Red Scare
The Red Scare was the fear of communist subversion in the US led to people began to link radical and dangerous ideas with immigrants. Americans began to ask for limitations on immigrants.
Palmer Raids
Due to a fear of a communist uprising the U.S government began making mass arrests based off little evidence in the fall of 1919
Nativism
Nativism is a preference for native born people and the desire to limit immigration.
Euginenics
Nativists used the idea of eugenics, false science of the improvement of heredity traits, to give support to their arguments against immigration
Ku Klux Klan
the Ku Klux Klan led the movement to restrict immigration. this new Klan not only targeted the freed African Americans but also Catholics, Jews, immigrants, and other groups.
Fundamentalist
Fundamentalism was a movement based on literal interpretation of bible. Fundamentalists skeptical of some scientific discoveries & theories.
Prohibition
Prohibition was the act of prohibiting the manufacturing, storage in barrels, bottles, transportation, and sale of alcohol.
Speakeasy
A speakeasy is an establishment that illegally sells alcohol in secret. Speakeasy are for the rich.
Flappers
Flappers where considered as rebels that had their hair short, wore short dresses, wore makeup, single, smoked, and partied.
Surrealism
Surrealism was the 20th century movement in art and literature that sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind.
Cubism
Pioneered by Pablo Picasso. Objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form

Art Deco was an innovative design style popular in the 1920's and 1930's. It's sleek, streamed forms conveyed elegance and sophistication

Les Fauves was focused more on the colors used in the painting, rather than making sure the painting "looked like" the subject

The 19th Amendment was the amendment that allowed the right of women suffrage. With granting this women around the U.S where voting and numbers of U.S voters increased.
21st Amendment
The 21st Amendment had appealed the 18 Amendment to allow people to drink and consume alcohol

The National Origins Act was the law that severely restricted immigration by establishing a system of national quotas that blatantly discriminated against immigrants

The Volstead Act was enacted to carry out the intent of the eighteenth amendment which established prohibition on the United States

Calvin Coolidge was the president who was elected after Warren Harding was declared dead after a heart attack. Calvin Coolidge's idea was to fix the name of the president and white house after Harding had messed it up. With this he planed to get rid of the corruption in the government.
