Seckinger High School Celebrates its AP Capstone Diploma Recipients
Congratulations to the following SKG Advanced Placement students listed in the graphic below for earning the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma. Only 21,000 students nationwide earned this prestigious honor. If you see these students, please wish them congratulations! Also, please congratulate our amazing AP Research & AP Seminar teacher Mrs. Hillary Lowe. See the attached press release below from The College Board.
About the AP Capstone Diploma Award: To earn the AP Capstone Diploma, students must have scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing. This is an outstanding achievement, and the award is acknowledged on any AP score report that is sent to colleges after the award has been conferred.
About the AP Capstone Diploma Program: AP Capstone is a College Board diploma program that's based on two yearlong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. The program provides student-centered learning while incorporating performance-based assessments. Both courses prepare students for college and career success through the development of critical thinking, academic research, collaboration, presentation, and time management skills. For more information about AP Capstone, visit the College Board AP Capstone website.
SKG PTSA has teamed up with Givebacks for a NO COST TO YOU way to fundraise for our school. Merchants fund the donations every time you shop or dine at their store. Please click the link for more information and to sign up to support SKG:

Civic Engagement Diploma Seal (previously posted)
SKG provides all students with the opportunity to apply for the Civic Engagement Diploma Seal. There are four criteria a student must meet to be awarded the CEDS. 1. Students should pass all of their Social Studies classes. 2.They should complete 50 hours, with 15 being civically engaged, of community service. Hours begin the summer before their freshman year. 3. Students will take the American Government Basic Skills Test. If you took the Civic Engagement Course freshman year, this component has likely been met. 4. Finally, students will create a product (presentation, essay, video, dance, podcast, etc.) where they discuss their experience and it's impact on them.
