Family Update
Week of November 4, 2024
Message from the Principals
Skyline Family,
We're almost at the end of the trimester! Remember to help your student stay focused, catch up on any outstanding assignments, and connect with teachers if they need any support. All missing/ late work must be submitted by Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024. Let’s finish strong!
Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour this Sunday, November 3rd. This marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, giving us an extra hour of sleep! As days get shorter and it gets darker earlier, please be mindful of the change and stay safe, especially during morning and evening commutes. Let’s enjoy that extra hour and adjust to the new rhythm together!
Be the I in Kind! – BSU’s Kindness Campaign
We’re excited to announce BSU’s Be Kind campaign! Sponsored by our very own Black Student Union, this campaign is all about spreading kindness, compassion, and unity in our Skyline community.
How to Join In:
- Take a Picture in front of the “BE KIND” sign on the third floor.
- Share it! Post on your socials and tag BSU, your organization, and Skyline High School.
- Go Viral! Let’s show everyone the amazing community we have here at Skyline!
Whether you’re in Choir, DTEP, SAS, AP Stats, Football, or Garden Club, we want everyone to get involved! We’re all part of the same community, and this is a chance to make kindness contagious.
Let’s come together to make this campaign something truly special. The more we spread kindness, the stronger our Skyline community becomes!
Go Eagles! 🦅

Counselors Connection
TRAILS Group Kickoff:
We are excited to announce that we will begin running our first of many TRAILS groups next week! TRAILS stands for Transforming Research into Action to Improve the Lives of Students and is a psychoeducational group with a Cognitive Behavioral focus. In this group, students will learn the connections between thoughts, feelings, actions and behaviors and how this information can be used to help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. In addition to learning about these connections, students will be given a plethora of actionable strategies which can be employed to help ease symptoms when students are struggling.
If you feel that your student may benefit from a group like this, please reach out to the counselors and we can offer an invitation to a future group!

Skyline High School's Holiday Giving Program
Support Our Holiday Giving Program
As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to join us in supporting our school community through our reimagined giving program. With a focus on empowerment, we’re moving away from a traditional wish list model to providing gift cards, allowing families the freedom to choose gifts that are meaningful and meet their unique needs with dignity. This year, the need is especially great, and every contribution makes a meaningful difference for our families.
We’re seeking donations of gift cards in $25 or $50 increments. Please feel free to donate as many gift cards as you are able. Sign up to select which gift card(s) you’d like to donate, and drop them off in the Main Office during school hours. To ensure we have everything ready, please submit all donations by November 26th, before Thanksgiving break begins. Thank you for giving what you can to help make the season brighter for everyone in our community. For questions, please contact Kate Waanders (waandersk@aaps.k12.mi.us) or Chaundra Randle (randlec@aaps.k12.mi.us).
