Our Staff on Friday attended our Kahui Ako o Kohanga Moa Mini Conference, where over 160 staff from centres and schools within Inglewood got together to discuss teaching, learning and wellbeing.
Here are a few snippets from attendees
I felt that this year''s conference was more smooth, probably because we had done it before and people were a little more familiar with the logistics. Rumatiki was an awesome way to finish the day. He brought people together in a special way.
Effects of trauma on cognitive function - my understanding of this increased. Reinforced the need to demonstrate and teach empathy, too.
Assessment Capable Learners - apart from learning more about how to help our students become agentic, the strategies that Jo modelled for us (as learners) were really interesting, and I'm looking forward to using these in my own teaching practice to promote metacognitive skills.
Pilates was awesome. A very nice vibe all day. Lunches were lovely.
A great day, well run and organised. The programme provided all the necessary information to make decisions about workshops. Thank you to Inglewood Primary for a delicious lunch.
Office Administrators - catch up was well worthwhile. Lots of different topics to talk about. Would be great to do this more often. Thanks for the opportunity.
Marcelle's kapa haka was wonderful as always. Her positivity is uplifting.

Calling all scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians – we need your help!
Some of our students will be taking part in the Wonder Project Rocket Challenge in Term 2. It’s an amazing programme designed to get young Kiwis excited about STEM – science, technology, engineering and maths. The programme pairs STEM professionals with teachers to deliver the learning and we need more volunteers to help our kids design, build and launch water rockets!
Keen to help? It only requires 1 hour a week for 6–8 weeks during Term 2. The Wonder Project team provides all training and resources, including a rocket kit, a rocket launcher and all the learning modules.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to guide young people on the Rocket Challenge. We are looking for passionate and committed professionals working in STEM fields who want to make a real difference – and inspire wonder in the minds of young people in their community.
