Week of December 1st Reminders
Rotational Bus Service Begins December 2nd
Effective Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 20, DPS will implement a districtwide rotational bus service. With rotational bus service, bus routes operate on a staggered schedule with students assigned to ride the bus on specific days based on their schools and bus routes. Families will be responsible for transporting their students to and from school one day each week, with bus service provided four days per week. This approach will help in managing the shortage efficiently, ensuring our current drivers can cover more routes equitably.
Please find your child’s bus number below to determine your group (A, B, C, D or E).
- Group A: Families are responsible for transporting students on Mondays: December 2, 9, and 16 Buses: 15 and 80/44
- Group B: Families are responsible for transporting students on Tuesdays: December 3, 10, and 17 Buses: 126, 121/136, 127/139, 97/202, and 94/204
- Group C: Families are responsible for transporting students on Wednesdays: December 4, 11, and 18 Buses: 214, 221, 222, 227, and 461/614
- Group D: Families are responsible for transporting students on Thursdays: December 5, 12, and 19 Buses: 233 and 248
- Group E: Families are responsible for transporting students on Fridays: December 6, 13, and 20 Buses: 218, 457, and 602
While we know this will present a hardship for some families who have benefitted from daily bus service, we ask for your patience and for the understanding that rotational bus service is a more equitable solution. Efforts to recruit and train bus drivers are ongoing and DPS is actively working on short-term and long-term strategies to resolve our transportation challenges. DPS will excuse tardiness for students on late buses and absences for students who miss school due to canceled bus routes. We will continue to investigate the possibility of retroactively excusing absences due to canceled bus routes.
