AVID News
Every year in AVID one of our most impacting components of the program is having guest speakers share about their profession. McMillen AVID students are always thinking about college majors, and they love exposure to as many as possible. That's where guest speakers help the most. Whether you own a business, are in the medical profession, the world of transportation, hospitality, engineering, law, human relations, trade professions…we would love to schedule you to speak to our students. They are always interested and have an abundance of questions. If you would be willing to come share your profession with us, or if you know someone who would like to come be a guest speaker in our AVID classes, please contact Mike Abney, our AVID Coordinator, at michael.abney@pisd.edu. Please consider sharing what you do with our students! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Band News
Congratulations to our McMillen Band students who competed for chairs at the TMEA All-Region auditions last Saturday and again last evening at Wylie High School competing against schools all over Plano, Allen, Wylie, Sherman, Anna, Princeton, Lovejoy, and Denison. MHS had 3 students selected to the high school region ensembles, and 4 students selected to the Freshmen Band.
Emmanuel Roque, trombone
Noah Perdue, French Horn
Hudson Cornell, oboe
***Emmanuel placed high enough to qualify for All-Area auditions, which is the final barrier before earning positions in the Texas All-State Band which performs in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) conference in San Antonio every February.
Also, congratulations to our MHS alumni at Plano East who advanced to All-Area through the same process.
Audrey Johnson (2nd year All-Area)
