Notes from the Family Ambassador
Last week I presented a challenge to ask your students about their school days with some strategic questioning. I'm happy to say that I learned a lot more about what was happening in my kid's day to day activities with some adjustments to how I was asking questions; especially my middle schooler who is a professional at one-word answers! How was your home experiment?
I want to take a moment and remind all our parents and guardians that Gables will be hosting an Open House on September 24 for all the first through fifth grade classes. This is a great opportunity to come into the school and see what and where your student has been learning. You can make this a special moment by empowering your student to show off their space and school routines and introducing their teachers to you in the classroom setting. Stay engaged with your students and learn what their days look like while they are away from home. Seeing the classroom can be comforting to you and your student so you all have a better understanding of their school experience. (It could also help you with those "end of the day" questions we talked about last week) I'm sure they have much to show you!
In addition, the Open House is a great opportunity to meet other parents and connect with families. This can help foster friendships and playdates for your students. If nothing else, remember that attending events like the Open House set a foundation for a positive partnership between parents, teachers, and the school.
Come and introduce yourself to me, I will be there, and I can point you in the right direction.
We love to learn. Go get'em Gators!

Staff Corner
"Education is the passport to the future, and attendance is the stamp that gets you there"
Students who missed fewer than 2 days in September continued to average fewer than 2 days absent each month.
Being at school increases a child's academic success, improves their chances to earn a high school diploma and a college degree.
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not attend school regularly.

Picture Day Information
What to expect on Picture Day
- When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
- If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
- A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
- When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.
MORE INFORMATION WILL BE COMING HOME VIA PAPER FLYER

CCS Special Events Safety Protocols
As we begin our fall sports season, we want to provide some new security measures that will be in place, beginning with our first football Friday night games, which will start on August 23. These measures have been introduced to enhance the safety and security of all attendees. At most locations, Safety and Security Specialists will process all spectators and visitors through a single-entry point via the EVOLV High-Speed Weapons Detection Systems.
Students must provide their school ID; a parent or adult guardian must accompany middle school students; restrictions on bag size, no larger than 5x8 as in the past, and no strollers. New this year is there will be no admission or purchase of tickets after the end of the third quarter. Spectators are prohibited from re-entering after leaving the facility.
As always, we appreciate your support in our efforts and that you have an enjoyable experience while attending any CCS events. We understand these changes may be inconvenient, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation. Your role in adhering to these measures is crucial and we value your contribution to our collective safety. Please remember, good security is never convenient, but it is always necessary.

Family Apple Picking is Upon Us
Looking to get into those fall vibes a little more?
It’s apple-picking season, friends. Even though it technically starts in summer, it’s a decidedly autumnal sort of affair.
In my humble opinion, the apple is the most versatile fruit. You can put them in pies, make cider, dip them in caramel, mash them and make applesauce, or even throw them in a salad. My point is, not only are they delightful, but you can also use them in so many different ways.
Sure, you can buy apples just about anywhere. But there is something special about picking them yourself. So break out your tennis shoes and a sturdy basket: It’s time to go apple picking.
