Fifth Grade Newsletter

Literature and Composition

5th grade will participate in their first novel study. They will be reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They will enjoy this classic novel while enhancing their vocabulary, comprehension skills, and writing strategies.

Science-Fifth grade will continue in Topic 3 covering forms of energy and energy change and conversions. They will then begin the next topic on Earth's systems covering matter and energy in Earth's system, surface features in the geosphere, and the hydrosphere. They will then move into a study of weather in the atmosphere.

Students will be working on adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions and mixed numbers.

Social Studies

Students will continue to learn more about Native Americans and Native American tribes. We will learn more about their cultures, trade, tools, and how their communities were organized.
