The Raptor Report
June 2024
From the Principal
Hello Rolling Hillsβ families!
As the school year comes to a close, please take some time to reflect on all the wonderful accomplishments and milestones your children have achieved this year. I would especially like to thank our 6th graders as they move on. They have set great examples for our younger students, and I have every confidence that they will continue to go on and do great things. Best of luck to all of you as you attend Park View next year.
Thank you to our staff who go above and beyond every day. You have been working since last spring to learn new programs, think creatively about how to engage students, find ways to build community, and Iβm thankful for your unwavering dedication to the children every day. The Rolling Hillsβ staff are already planning and organizing for next school year. We will be continuing to perfect our craft of teaching, focusing on all the curricular areas as well as meeting for several professional development opportunities over the summer.
Please encourage your children to continue to read while on vacation. It is not unreasonable to expect your children to read 3 to 5 books over summer, so they donβt experience the usual summer slide in literacy skills. Three months of lost instruction will take three months to return to where students leave off in June. Here are also some literacy and math resources for you to access over the summer. The staff and I are very proud to say that Rolling Hills continues to exceed expectations. Congratulations to all on a very successful school year. This level of student success can only be achieved through the support and encouragement from families at home.
To our families and communityβThank you! I know the year may have been filled with various stressors, disagreements, and frustrations, but at the end of the day I am thankful for your trust and support. I look forward to charging ahead in our journey together and working to ensure your child is ready for whatever the future holds. To close out the year, our 6th grade families are invited to attend our annual 6th grade recognition ceremony on Friday, June 7, at 9:00am.
Lastly, please take time to relax and enjoy the great weather and all the fun activities summer brings with your family. I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and pleasant summer break. See you on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at open house!
Dr. Ron Schlicht, Principal
A referendum to replace Park View Middle School and update some of the elementary schools failed to win voter support in April. We acknowledge and respect the community's decision. We now need to decide how to address the needs at the middle school.
We have reached out to community members to better understand why the referendum was not supported. The primary concerns we heard were cost and tax impact. The district does not believe putting more money into the existing middle school is a good use of tax dollars. Therefore, we revised the plan to replace the building at a lower cost.
Community Survey:
Beginning at the end of May, we will conduct a new survey to receive your input on our revised plan. A survey will be mailed to all district homes with instructions on how to complete the survey. Each survey will have a code which can be used once. To obtain additional surveys for other adults in your household, please call the District Office at 262.363.6300. Please complete the survey by June 24. Results will be reported at a school board meeting and available on the district website later this summer.
Community Listening Session:
Join us at Park View Middle School on Wednesday, June 5, at 6 p.m. for a Community Listening Session. Learn more about our revised plan and the lower tax impact on our community.

THANK YOU PTO!
Thank you to our PTO and all of our fantastic Rolling HIlls parents
for all their efforts in spoiling our staff for an entire week.
During Staff Appreciation Week we were fed, pampered and well rested.
Not only did we get delicious treats and dinner for our families, but once again, students from VICI Beauty School came to our school and treated us to Wellness Wednesday.
The entire week was absolutely perfect and very much appreciated!
A very special shout out to Rachel Hubinger and Jill Parrish for their hard work.
We appreciate all of you!
Household Information
Do you have a change of household information?
New address? New email?
New telephone/cell/work number?
Please log into your Parent Portal account and make any changes to your information so our database records stay current. It is very important that you update this database to keep us informed of all changes, especially when we have to make calls for an ill child.
Thank you for your assistance.

The library could use your help!
At the end of each year, the entire school library is inventoried to assess the collection, locate any lost books, and to maintain the materials. Mrs. Coopman could use your help in scanning part of the 13,000+ materials in the library. If you have any availability to come scan & organize books during the month of May or June, please email Mrs. Coopman at coopmti@masd.k12.wi.us. Thank you for your consideration!
ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE FRIDAY, MAY 24th!
All RHES school library books are due Friday, May 24th. Notices will go home throughout the month of May & June for any overdue books. If you are unable to locate a missing book, you can email Mrs. Coopman at coopmti@masd.k12.wi.us. Usually the best option is to purchase another copy of the same book for the library from Amazon or half-priced books (used is fine!) or pay the amount to replace the book. Thank you for your help in getting ALL our books back on the library shelves!
School Counselor Note
Dear Families,
Summer is right around the corner! This is always a bittersweet time of year, as we reflect on all the learning and growing that has happened over the past year and look ahead to summer break. Here are some ways to incorporate more social emotional learning at home over the summer with your student(s):
β Write Stories: Have students journal or create their own stories around topics like kindness, fairness, and perseverance.
β Start a Challenge: Have students create their own kindness or gratitude challenge and compete as a family.
β Write Sidewalk Messages: Using sidewalk chalk, write positive messages in your neighborhood on the driveway or sidewalk.
β Play Board Games: These are a great way to practice cooperation, communication, and teamwork!
β Start a Community Project: Look for ways to raise money or take donations for an organization within the community.
β Use Art Activities: Trying out different art projects can help students calm and relax as well as engage the creative part of their brains!
β Create Posters: Have students create their own posters using colors and inspirational quotes, words, or messages.
β Use Read Alouds: Reading stories together as a family and then discussing the characters and their experiences promotes problem solving and critical thinking. β Integrate Movement: Taking movement or mindfulness breaks throughout the day can promote healthy habits and get students outside.
β Learn a New Skill: Learning something new can boost confidence and creativity. For more summer activity ideas visit: 15+ Ideas for Social Emotional Summer Learning
If you have any questions or comments, please donβt hesitate to contact Mrs.Falbo, your childβs School Counselor!
The Raptor Way
You have worked so hard this year. The goal for this summer is for all of you to stay curious and continue to be lifelong learners. Not only can you continue to learn, but you can also continue to teach others with your creativity. This summer create something awesome and share it with a family member, or friend. The ROAR store is closed, but students are still earning ROAR cards until the end of the year. We will have a special SUMMER RAFFLE drawing in June. Just a reminder that ROAR cards will NOT carry over to the following school year. As a staff, we are so proud of all of the RAPTOR WAY actions kids have used throughout the school year. Rolling Hills really is a very respectful, responsible and safe environment to come to each day. The students will be rewarded with an end-of-the-year carnival June 5th. Have a wonderful summer and keep roaring the RAPTOR WAY!
