West Point El. Parent Update

Week of December 1, 2024

Dear West Point Families,

Happy December! We hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving Break. Winter Break is just three weeks away! There is a lot going on between now and then. Please be sure to check the upcoming dates section below.

Here are three important things to know for the coming week.

Applications for musical auditions and for stage crew are due this Monday, December 2. The musical is for all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Stage crew is for 6th grade only. Forms are in the office.
Student Council is sponsoring their Toys for Tots Fundraiser this Monday, December 2 - Friday, December 6. The class which raises the most money will win a pizza party. Students can bring cash to school, or you can make a donation through the following link: https://dsdgive.net/event/5315
Yearbooks can be purchased on myDSD. They cost $15.00 through December 31. Prices go up to $18.00 starting January 1.

Lion King, Jr.

This year's musical is Lion King Jr. This opportunity is available to all 4th, 5th, 6th graders who are interested. Applications are available in the front office.

Audition sign-up slips are due Monday, December 2 by 3:30 p.m.
Auditions will be December 16, 17, and 18 after school.
Musical Performances will be March 20, 21, and 22.

Magical Manners

This week's manner is "Be a Connector." This manner helps everyone feel included. If a student knows two different people (who don't know each other), that student can introduce the other two students so everyone can have a wider circle that includes more friends.

December and January's LETTERING Focus - I is for Inclusion

We will be focusing on a very important trait during December and January, and that is inclusion. Belonging and inclusion are the most important priorities in our district, and students will participate in some fun activities that build a culture of belonging and inclusion in our school.

December Brag Tags

December is a brand new month and a new opportunity for students to earn their brag tags. Students can earn a brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.

WPE Christmas Ball

Our Christmas Ball/Glow Dance Party will be Wednesday, December 18. The students have done an awesome job completing behavior challenges, which is how they move the hands around the clock and earn accessories and fun activities for the dance party. We are looking forward to a magical time!
