We have to be okay with the role we play in scholars’ lives. Your role may be to sow the seed of greatness in the scholar; it may be to water the seed of greatness that have been sown. Whatever your role may be, it is important! The greatness of a scholar may not manifest in your classroom; but know that every interaction you have with your scholar, every word you speak to your scholar has a lasting impact.
Spotlight: Ms. Badger/Ms. Smith & Ms. Smith/Mr. Smith
The K5 team concluded their unit about kings and queens by having a Royal Tea Party in their classrooms. The scholars wore crowns and royal mantles while drinking royal tea and eating royal cookies J The scholars were excited and they even spoke with elegance and with a British accent. Empathy is our focus for January and February. This is our first year having Empathy as a TRECK value. Please take the time to make sure the scholars understand the meaning of empathy.

Few Reminders:
Morning Arrival
- In the morning there are too many scholars in the hallway. Please remind your scholars to go to breakfast or remain in the classroom. This is NOT the time to visit other classrooms.
Success Plans
- If you have scholars with success plans, it is imperative that it is followed with fidelity. a copy of the trackers should be sent to parents and a copy should be kept for our records. The trackers will be reviewed when making the decision about next steps.
Full Withdrawals
When a full withdrawal is given, parent contact should be made.
Full withdrawals should be restored within 24 hours.
Please contact Ms. Tatum (414-534-7238) if you need assistance with restorations
Once the restorative conversation is held please send by text or email a copy of the completed restoration
Lunch Duty
- Actively monitor scholars in the cafeteria by circulating the tables of your scholars
- Make sure scholars clean up their table areas

We had 8 full withdrawals, 6 of those were restored. We also had 0 suspensions this week. Please continue to not only hold scholars up to MCP expectations but also ensure that we are supervising scholars at all times and if the need arises, step up in the absence of our team members! There were 3 scholars put out of classrooms this week!!!!!!!! We must utilize our classroom procedures and resources.

*Thank you to teachers that was flexible in ensuring parents were accommodated in scheduling conferences.
*Thursday instead of MindUp, I will be meeting with both 8th Grade classrooms in Mr. Tyler's Room regarding completion expectations
*This Friday is The Black History Program. Please practice with your scholars to ensure they are together with their respective parts

Grade books
On Tuesday, the second progress reports of Quarter 3 will be sent home. There will be only one more progress report (March 10th) sent home after this. Quarter 3 closes on March 19th. Wow! Please make sure that your grade book reflects the current academic standing of your scholars.Upcoming ELA Planning Meetings

For this round of planning meetings, please bring two assignments that your scholars have completed. We will be analyzing these two pieces of student work to set goals for the month of March.

IT'S RETEACH DAY!
Monday, Feb. 24th
Reteach has been amazing to see! I've witnessed scholar work being analyzed, light bulbs going off and great explanations of concepts! Let's have a great last day of reteach.
Note: For some grades reteach will go through Wednesday.
Grade Level Meetings:
We are all set with pacing for those who I met with last week. If we did not meet, our meeting will take place this week. Please be prepared to set goals and dig into data as well.
Focus of the week:
Strand 2 Teacher Action 6: Direct instruction succinctly and efficiently models the precise steps and cognitive process students are expected to take to master content.
Strand 3 Teacher Action 6: Teacher projects/ shares scholar work and has scholars analyze to further their understanding or to address misconceptions.
