4th Grade
Dear 4th Grade Families,
4th graders began a new writing project where they will incorporate dialogue and practice using descriptive vocabulary in Problem-Solution fictional stories. This project will last through next week so please ask your child to share their story with you at home!
We are now doing the majority of our math work directly in the HMH Ed site which students sign in to through Clever. HMH gives students feedback as they work so that they know if they’re on the right track or not! It also allows them to work ahead at their own pace. Please begin checking their HMH assignments regularly in addition to their Seesaw work.
Families are invited to our Regions Research Publishing Party on Friday February 21st at 1pm! Students will present their multimedia research projects that they spent almost one month working on in Social Studies, Writing and Innovations! Please feel free to watch your child present that day!
Please contact me any time:

5th Grade
Hello 5th grade families!
This week students wrapped up a unit on adding and subtracting fractions and are
moving on to multiplying fractions. We will be going on your first in person field trip on
Thursday, March 6th. Students who are not attending will have to login and complete the
independent work to be counted present.
Students are going to be starting a poetry unit soon - this is a really fun unit to participate in
as a family - I hope that you can join in and help write!
Please check every Friday for what work is still in student’s to do folders or draft folders.
These should be empty if students are doing everything they need to do.
Office hours are from 2:30 - 3pm on Thursdays and students can get help with anything they need.
Continue to reach out with any questions! Thank you!

Art
This week the Kindergartners have been learning about Alma Woodsey Thomas and they created their own works of art inspired by her unique painting style. The third grade artists looked at works of art by Faith Ringgold and they created pictures of their own neighborhoods and self portraits of themselves flying over their cityscapes.

Rethink Your Drink
We often don’t think about the amount of added sugar that is put into our drinks. Remember that companies use a lot of different names for added sugar (dextrose, corn syrup, etc.). It is also important to look at the serving size when factoring in how much sugar you are consuming. Companies will often have more than one serving size listed on the label, even though they know most people will drink the entire bottle.
