Allie and I wish you a wonderful weekend. Happy Labor Day and Rosh Hashanah! Below are a few things to put on your radar.
We want to keep Westgate healthy! Please be sure to use good judgment when sending your child to school if they are not feeling well. This would also be important if siblings or others in the home are not well. Thanks!
Please be sure to send your child with at least two masks each day!
We respectfully ask that parents not bring their children to play on the playground in the morning.

Recess Supervisors Needed!!!

MAP Assessments Begin Wednesday!
Students in grades K-5 will be taking the NWEA's Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in both reading and math beginning Wednesday (please see your child's teacher for individual testing schedules). MAP assessments help us to monitor student academic growth over time. Scores will be shared with parents later this fall.
Please be sure your child is set up for success by having a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast!
Reporting Absences
If your child cannot attend school on a specific day, there are two ways to report an absence. Please click HERE to record absence information using our online form, which is located on our school website on the Absence page. You may also call our office to report an absence. This year, when you call our school’s main line at 847-398-4292, you will initially hear an auto attendant. You will be prompted with a few options: press “1” to report the absence; press 2 for the nurse; press “0” or remain on the line for the front office.
ALL ABSENCES MUST BE REPORTED ON THE ONLINE ABSENCE FORM OR BY A CALL TO OUR FRONT OFFICE, NOT BY A CALL OR EMAIL TO YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER.
Join Us for Our PTA Meeting and RULER Presentation
We will have our first PTA meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 8th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Westgate LMC. This year we will also provide the ability for parents to join via Zoom as well.
In addition to the traditional PTA meeting, Mrs. Gillespie and Mrs. Zapatka will be here to share a presentation for parents on RULER, our new social-emotional (SEL) program.
- Books to be returned - deliver your classroom book return crate to the LMC first thing in the morning. Leave the crate and all near the Circulation Desk. Empty crates will be parked near the LMC back door.
- Book(s) to be renewed - Do not put the book(s) in the book return crate. Have the student bring the book(s) to the LMC during check-out, and place it on the "Please Renew" spot on the Circulation Desk. Students may pick up renewed items at check-out time.
Back to School Block Party
We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to PTA for putting on a wonderful event last Friday! Our students and families would not have had the opportunity to come together without their support. If you have not already done so, please consider becoming a member of PTA!
