IN OTHER NEWS, the town is holding its annual Veterans Day parade on Monday, leaving from American Legion Drive at 10:30 a.m. and heading to Manchester Memorial Hospital for a ceremony on the front lawn at 11 that will include taps, bagpipes and speeches. Last Friday, the School Counseling team at MHS had a Click and Submit event, with Room 293 crowded with students who had space to get their application questions answered and apply to state schools for free.
Board Of Ed Meets Next Thursday Night
The Board of Education's next meeting is a week from tonight -- Thursday, Nov. 14 at Lincoln Center and will include an update on Human Capital and Talent on the agenda.

- The day before Thanksgiving -- Wednesday, Nov. 27 -- will be an early release day following the emergency dismissal schedule. That means the day ends at 11 a.m. for high schoolers with Bennet, Illing and MMA done at 11:45 a.m. and the elementary schools at 12:30 p.m. To see the district calendar click here.
The Latest 'Pulse' And More
Broadcast journalism students produced another edition of 'The Pulse' and it included a look back at the Homecoming Show, a Yondr assessment and more.
It's getting chilly and the district is conducting a student coat drive, with new coats preferred but gently used and laundered coats accepted. Click here for details.
Boys and girls throughout the district are invited to a free day of activities, mentorship, medical exposure, and networking this Saturday (Nov. 9) from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Waterbury. Click here for more information. (Students in grades 3 and up are eligible but this is an especially great opportunity for middle and high schoolers.)

Manchester’s Veterans Day Parade will step off from American Legion Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Monday and arrive at Manchester Memorial Hospital for an 11 a.m. ceremony. Manchester schools and town offices will be closed on Monday in honor of holiday.

UR Community Cares Tech Center will host Parkinsons’ Disease Support Group sessions on the second Tuesday of the month at 153 Spruce St. starting this coming Tuesday.

- The Manchester Greater Together Community Fund announced a competitive grant opportunity for nonprofits proposing projects to benefit the residents of Manchester. Click for details.
- A coloring contest for children ages 5-10 who live in town will determine who gets to light the Downtown Manchester Christmas tree. The contest deadline is tomorrow and the tree-lighting event is Nov. 30 and there's more info here.
- The Youth Service Bureaus is offering lots of opportunities of note. He are some in-school programs (FACTS, Girl Circles and Voices) and a list of Fall and Winter programs (employment readiness, cooking, birdwatching and much more).

Online registration for the 88th Manchester Road Race is under way. The entry fee is now $37 and goes up to $42 on Nov. 23. Click here for registration information.
