Apartment Complex Fire
Several of you have asked how you might best help the District 15 families that were affected by the recent fire at the Country Glen Apartment Complex this past week. Thank you for your compassion and desire to support those in our extended community during this time of need.

Many thanks to our creative and energetic PTA for providing an opportunity for our community to come together for some family fun. The mini golf, WAR card game, PLINKO, giant inflatables, and the photo booth are just a few of the offerings that were a big hit. Enjoy a glimpse of the fun!

Valentine's Day Information
We will celebrate Valentine's Day at Marion Jordan Elementary on Friday, February 14th. Classroom parties will be hosted and run by amazing volunteers organized by our dedicated room parents. Parties will run from 12:45-1:45pm with clean up and volunteer departure from 1:45-2pm. We appreciate everyone adhering to this schedule as closely as possible to allow for time and room for our buses and parent pick up cars to get into the parking lot without a battle for the space.
As a reminder, all of our school celebrations are food free and this includes not attaching candy to any Valentine's your child would like to deliver to classmates. We strive for inclusivity for all, and therefore kindly ask that if your child plans to bring Valentine's to share, they should include one for each student in his/her class. You can reach out to the room parent(s) for your child's classroom or Mrs. Grosch in the office with any questions.
One Five Foundation 50/50 Raffle
Are you feeling L U C K Y?
Purchase a ticket for the one-five Foundation's annual 50/50 Raffle for your chance to win up to $30,000! Proceeds benefit the Foundation's 2025 projects which support the entire District 15 community.
Each $100 ticket sold will earn one entry into the 50/50 raffle. Only 600 tickets will be sold so do not delay in purchasing what might just be the winning ticket.
Half of the money raised through the raffle (up to $30,000) will be donated to the one-five Foundation. The other half of the funds raised (up to $30,000) will be issued to the raffle winner. The cash prize will depend on the number of tickets sold. Prize money will be issued in a check and is subject to taxation. Last year’s winner won $16,450!
The live drawing will take place on March 17, 2025, at 12 PM on District 15’s Facebook page.
The winner must be at least 18 years old. If a child's name is drawn as the winner, a parent or guardian must claim the prize. The prize winner will be notified by phone and email. The prize winner must come forward within seven (7) days of the raffle drawing date. If the prize winner does not come forward, another name will be drawn. Raffle tickets are tax-deductible for those not selected as the prize winner.

Illinois State Board of Education Guidance
In an effort to ensure families are informed, we are sharing information in accordance with ISBE guidance released last week. In summary, D15 maintains the following practices:
Student Privacy Protections: Federal and state privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Illinois School Student Records Act (ISSRA), protect student information. D15 will not share student records or information with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without properly executed and signed legal documentation and/ or parental consent.
The Right to Education: Every child is entitled to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE), regardless of their background or status. As outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court in Plyler v. Doe, D15 does not inquire about or collect information regarding a student’s or family’s immigration status.
To prepare for any potential scenarios, our office and administrative staff have been trained on how to respond to ICE inquiries at our schools. We will communicate with legal counsel to ensure that we understand and uphold the rights of our students and families. ICE agents will not be granted access to school buildings unless they provide credentials, a judicial warrant signed by a judge, and a clear rationale for their visit. Our legal team will review all documentation before any further steps are taken.
If you have any questions or if your child requires additional support at school, please contact the school office. D15 is committed to ensuring every child feels safe so they are able to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
