Panther Newsletter
Volume XIV - 08/11/2023
Corona High School Students and Families,
Good Friday evening!
We are at the end of the first week of school and all is great at the home of Panthers! Students are in classes, and our teachers are welcoming them into the classroom to support their learning needs. Please be reminded that the campus does not open till 7:15 a.m. and the only entrance point is the clock tower gate in front of the Performing Arts Center. The parking lot gate will not open until 7:45 a.m. at the earliest. As a means to maintain campus safety, all students must identify themselves to school personnel as they enter the campus. There are two ways that they can identify themselves. The first one is by using the Minga application on their cell phones. The app is easy to download for both apple and android users and allows students to display a digital ID. The QR code for the minga application will be included in another article in the newsletter. The other way that students can identify themselves is with the physical ID and lanyard that they were given at registration. Thank you for your support of this important school safety measure.
Back To School Night will be held on Wednesday, August, 30, 2023 in the Main Gym. Teachers will have tables set up and you can meet your students' teachers as well as learn about their classes. There will be food trucks available beginning at 4:30 if you would like to get something to eat for dinner!
Thank you for all that you are doing to get your students to school on time. Attendance and on time arrival are critical to student success. Thank you for all that you do to support Panther Nation and have a great school year!

π’ ON CAMPUS NEWS π’
Great things are going on at the Corona High School!!! Assembly member Sabrina Cervantes visited our school on Thursday, August 10th along with Board President Mary Ybarra, CNUSD Superintendent Dr. Sam Buenrostro, and Administrative Director Dr. Gina Boster. We toured our newly remodeled Student Union Building/Library as well as our Aviation Pathway and Health Career Pathway! Assistant Principal Deena Rodriguez lead the tour of two of our amazing pathways for students. Thank you Assembly member Cervantes for visiting us!
βCAMPUS SECURITYβ
In our continuous efforts to improve campus safety and security, we have established two student entrances to be used while students are entering campus before school. This will help school staff to more closely monitor who is entering campus each day.
- The clocktower entrance will be the only entrance open at 7:15am to ingress for zero period which begins at 7:30am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. The entrance will open at 7:45 on Wednesdays (late start).
- The student lot entrance will open at 7:55am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. The entrance will open at 8:20am on Wednesdays.
All student entrances will close at 8:35 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (9:55 on Wednesdays) to allow for the security staff and administration to properly prepare and secure the campus for the start of 1st period.
All students who arrive at school after 8:35 or 9:55 are required to enter through the front office and check in through the attendance office to acquire a Minga Pass.
Doctorβs or dentistβs notes or court documentation are required to excuse ALL tardies/absences.
Traffic or parking-related tardies/absences are not excused.
NOTE: ALL non-student visitors are required to check in at the front office and present a physical state or government-issued ID. Digital photos, paper copies, work IDs, etc. are not permitted as a valid ID for entry onto campus during the school day, or to sign out a student.
π EXCELLENCE IN ACTION π
π₯π₯ F P K π₯π₯
FPK will be competing in their biggest competition to date this weekend. Back in March they competed in World of Dance L.A. placing 3rd overall. As a result, they will be competing in the World Finals tomorrow in Anaheim. They are one of 5 teams representing the United States against countries like Japan, The Philippines, France, Poland, New Zealand and quite a few others.
Being the only high school team in the competition going against professional companies and studios can be intimidating at times, but these guys have worked hard all summer to prepare. The goal is to use this as a new foundation of what this program can be. Best of Luck!!!
π¨πΆ CREATIVE CORNER πΆπ¨
Attention all Artists, Dancers, Composers, Writers and Creators!!! It's time for Reflections once again! This year's theme is "I am Hopeful Because....."
More information will be coming your way!!!! "Pride of the Prowl"
π₯π₯AUTO SHOP π₯π₯
This past school year, the auto shop students here at Corona High took on a 1969 Jeepster Commando restoration project to finish for the Porter family of Norco. This was a project that retired Fire Captain Shane Porter and his boys, Michael and Tim, were working on together. After hearing of Shane's passing, Mr. Mauger proposed for his students to finish the project for the family. After hours and hours of hard work, the Auto Shop students gave it back to the family on July 27th. Such a great experience for the auto shop department. Not only was it a learning lesson on restoration, the students also learned about helping others and giving back to our community. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication.
