MUMS Family Newsletter
May 31, 2024
Dear caregivers and families,
Another great week in the books! Students are beginning to experience closure in academic units this week and into next week and reflect on their learning throughout the year! Our sports teams are finishing up their spring seasons and clubs are coming to a close.
With all of these components of the 23-24 school year winding down, students are beginning to really picture what next year might hold for them. Some students returning to MUMS and our 8th graders preparing for their transition to MUHS!
Tonight we will celebrate the year with our final Dance! Our 8th graders will enjoy a pizza party before the dance begins at 7:00pm.
Next week our rising 6th and 9th graders will visit their new schools in preparation for their fall transition. We look forward to this step up day and look forward to wrapping up the year in other ways in the coming weeks!
Have a great weekend!
Best,
Michaela

From our MYP Coordinators
In their civics unit, 7th grade Individuals and Societies students made posters about organizations that are “good global citizens” because of the changes they are making in the world. Originally, there was a fundraising component to the project and kids could choose which organization to support, but due to time constraints, this part of the project was eliminated.
When Claire Groby mentioned this, two Team 3 students, Helen and Melyssa, independently decided to set up a bake sale at last week’s MUMS concert to raise money to donate to their cause, the Special Olympics. They raised over $100.00. Thank you to these two caring, principled students for taking the initiative to do something that helps others-- you embody these IB Learner Profile traits.

MUMS Dance
Tonight MUMS will hold the last school dance of the year. This dance will be a semi-formal and parents/guardians can decide what that means for their student. Eighth graders only - are being offered to a attend an 8th grade class dinner before the dance from 6:00-7:00. Permission slips have been handed out already, but if your student misplaced it, you can also print a copy here. Students need to bring their signed permission slip and money ($5.00) to be handed in upon arrival at the dance.
As always, scholarships are available and students attending the dance is our goal. If the $5.00 fee is a hardship, please send your child anyway and we will cover their cost.
If you would like to volunteer to support the dance, please use this link and thank you for all of your support!
6th and 7th Grade trip to Branbury State Park
Our 6th and 7th graders will attend an all day field trip to Branbury state park on Thursday June 13th. Permission slips and details regarding the trip are linked in this document. Paper copies of permission slips will be handed out in TA on Monday June 3rd. Permission slips are due back to TA's no later than Friday June 7th. Please call the main line with any questions or send an email to dhunt@acsdvt.org
